yea f it lets not put a Naturally aspirated 600hp 700tq v8 motor in there i think it makes more sense to stick a turbo i-6 that makes 276hp!

if you're military, does the service help ship your car if you decide to keep it? i know you'll prob deal with all the customs issues.... looking at that mustang made me think of that... did he ship it himself or was it already there? like when you end your tour, could you keep your skyline and bring it here? or would you have to leave it?.... same with the mustang....

also, being a fellow mustang owner myself (2007 GT/CS), i like to see good American iron representing overseas....

I just thank god it's not an Iroc-Z with T-tops, a rebel flag covering the back window with a huge bowtie... and a driver wearing zebra print parachute pants, white high top Reebok's, and a mesh tank top....

Yes and no. Yes TMO will assist you in shipment, but you still have to pay a fee to them. If you did not, Freight is 5 dollars PER POUND OF YOUR VEHICLE!

Now you see one of the reasons it is so expensive to buy a car from Japan . . .and that's just ONE of the reasons.

The Skyline is actually listed, by TMO, as a car you can NOT bring back over to the states. You will have to arrange for those shipping measures yourself. Also, the ONLY port you can send to is on the WEST COAST in most cases and their customs guys are EXTREMELY strict. You may get lucky and get someone that either 1) doesn't care and will pass it, or 2) is feeling generous and will simply send the car back to Japan with a fail tag.

HOWEVER

Since it costs customs to send the car back (the same fee you paid) 10 times out of 12, as soon as it's failed, it gets sent to impound for crushing. No IF'S, ANDS or BUTTS.

In addition to this, you can NOT have a modified car sent to the states. If you want to send your precious car back to the states, you'll have to return it back to it's original form. The customs order states that -A CAR, UPON REACHING PORT OF INSPECTION, MUST RETAIN THE APPEARANCE AS PRODUCED FROM THE MANUFACTURER-. Now, before anyone here gets all fanboy and says something stupid that will probably just make me want to find you and burn your soul alive after taking a crap on it . . .YES . . .they know, and if they doubt it, they'll either call someone who DOES KNOW or just fail it and mark it for crushing.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! ROCK ON DUDE!

The American cars are actually quite sought after in Japan, they love the Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes. You don't see them much, but when you do, they're either tastefully modified or not modified at all.

Here's some pictures of my friend's Mustang when I was on Camp Hansen, he used to come out to the track with us, but he was more into Highway and Street racing (straight line stuff).

That was the problem my friend had before he shipped his R33 over. I dont remember how many times he was on the phone with people over at motorex trying to make sure his car passed. When it came down to that week of it arriving, he sweated and stressed like a high school boy waiting for the results of his girls pregnancy test.

The costs of legalizing any imported car justifies me to say that I rather buy a frikin Benz SLK55 AMG instead.

Just trying to pay for the yearly bond on a Skyline is insanly high.

That's why it's called "fine print"

I don't get why people will pay exorbitant prices for a Nissan . . .I can see if it were something of prestige or pedigree but . . .it's a Nissan. Buy a 350z and be on the same par as an R33 on the circuit. I guess it's the same thing with Honda guys and the NSX, it's horrible if you ask me.

Whatever . . .

we may have been looking at different pages.... and as far as exorbitant prices.... there's or was a guy on here selling a R33 skyline, with the motorset already in it for only $23k in cali https://www.s-chassis.com/forums/sale-cars-sale-62/skyline-r33-gt-st-sale-socal-43959/ last time i checked, a '05 350Z is retailing for around $24k and a new one for over $30k.... either way, just looked like a interesting site....

why buy a Shelby Cobra kit car when you can buy a C5 corvette at around the same cost and it's a better all around car.....because it's a shelby cobra thats why, even though it's a "kit"

not trying to start anything but i'd pay a lot of money to have my own personal fantasy car.... heck, look at biggame.... he went overseas, and whats the first car he bought? a skyline.... he could have gotten a 180SX, a S13-S14 silvia.... but he chose a skyline for the same reasons people pay an exorbitant amount of money here in the state for one... sorry that the skylines aren't a high interest for you, most of us hasn't had the chance to own one, or like me only seen ONE.. and that was a GTs-T

now lets get back to his thread.... so far it's been pretty sweet, interesting photos... better cars.... lets see more domestics!! any LHD S-chassis out there???
