I got a 196 pc set from Sears for like $120.... might be worth it to just wait for a sale and go to Sears.

another tool Q:

will I ever need any wrenches besides 8, 10, 12, 13, and 14 mm?

here is why I ask:

Yeah it's all that, cept it's metric and standard, but it came with all the metric pieces I'll ever probably need. I think you could probably get a good set on a Father's Day sale.

To answer your other question I'd say get the second set. I bought a 12 pc. Gear Wrench set (8mm - 19mm), and to change a PCV valve that 19 mm is AWSOME!
