Question Help with my 280zx

I know this is a 240sx forum, but I am havin probs with my 83 280zx's 5-speed. When I try to go into reverse, it grinds really bad then goes in. It makes a clicking noise if I press in the clutch while coasting down my drive.Clutch has only 8,000 miles on it. Any help would be appreciated.-I know you are gonna say go to a Z-car forum

don't know about the clutch, but you're reverse syncro is shot to ****, kinda like my second gear syncro, and to a lesser extent, my reverse. It's a liveable problem, just don't beat on your reverse and you'll be fine. you could get it fixed, but it'd be cheaper to get a new (read: new to you) tranny (yes, it's that expensive). to get around the nasty grinding sound take the shifter and slam it into gear when you're going into reverse and that should keep the grinding to a minimum.

It could be somthing else, but based on my experience that's what i think it is.

I cant beleive it costs more to fix the synchro than to get a new tranny! Thanx for the info.

no prob. the reason it costs more is because they have to disassemble the tranny and then reassemble it = lots of labor costs.
