Wheel stud
Does anyone know how id replace a wheel stud?and what id need?
|
the easiest way to do it, is to take it to a tire shop, they should have the studs, and the right equiptment to do it with.
I had to take one of mine to get all studs replaced, total cost with studs and labor, it was only $15.00 |
right on thanx man

or do it yourself. autozone for some studs m12 thread pitch iirc and some washers at home depot (lots of them). hammer out the old ones after you take off the rotor. push the new ones in from behind the hub. slap some washers on the front side and then just screw them in so itll get pulled through.
note: cheap alternative to nismo extended wheel studs get some arp wheel studs from summit racing for f bodys (camaro and firebirds) the seat of the stud is slightly bigger but itll fit nonetheless. but then youd need new wheel nuts too (also available on summit, gorilla brand in blue red and chrome, open and closed type) |
^^^^Exactly...quick and painless with power tools. No use paying a shop an extra buck for installing (Yes im cheap) :D
|
what is a 90 240 hatch lug nut size? I need to pick up some after market studs thats closed or whatever!
|
****, quick and painless with hand tools. I've replaced almost every damn lug on my car and its easy as hell. Definitely do it yourself and use the money you save to go buy lunch or something.
Buy this http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/4130/dscf01023vd.jpg Take off your wheel so you have this http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/6004/dscf01008un.jpg Remove a few bolts and take off your caliper http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/5275/dscf01107tz.jpg Remove brake rotor from hub http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/1285/dscf01110gm.jpg Beat the everloving piss out of the offending lug (try not to hit the hub, I did and it was a pain to straighten out), insert new stud (use a little loctite)in place of the old stud http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/6372/dscf01145gs.jpg Place washers on new stud and thread on an open ended lug nut http://img78.imageshack.us/img78/8650/dscf01163dk.jpg Then just torque it till it pulls through, and then put everything back together. and the lugs are like 12x1.25 |
