how is the fiberglass quality, will it break once it hits the curb?
or is it like the strong japanese quality fiberglass? |
The kit quailty will be like any other replica kit over here in US (7 layers of fiberglass).

Dodge stealth TT is the same as a Mitsubishi 3000GT. IT is just cheaper and will not weigh as much due to the folding roof on the VR-4. The Stealth is a great car with a few mod but the 240 is better with a whole new engine.
My decision was due to the fact that too many newbie drivers are getting a 240 while no one has a pimped stealth. A built RB25 definatly will beat a stealth but i will not have to go through all the trouble of getting a SR, RB or CA delivered to Canada. The cost would be in the thousands for shipping and tax. Some day i will gat a 240 to make into a track slut but for now i'm goin with the stealth. |
im not a big fan of the 3000GT or the stealth, they just seem to heavy..i dunno. And it isnt my type of body..

I know you've already decided on the Stealth, but I would think the drive -> install -> drive home route probably makes sense if shipping and taxes kill you that much in CA. And very few 3000GT's got the folding hard top. Most got a fixed roof just like the Stealth. But when you start getting close to SUV weights, does a few pounds really matter? -Justin |
the closes shop to me to get it done would be after dark tuning about a 16 hours drive. i have thought about this but i really want to do this swap myself and there is no shop in the north west USA that i could get it done in

yea they r heavy but with stripped interior and lightened everything i think i can make it close to 3000 LBS. that weight with 450 Hp will kill most of the cars in my area.

You're not likely to shed 800 pounds from that car no matter what you do. Short of building a tube frame and hanging fiberglass panels you're just not going to get it to 3000 pounds. I'd be downright amazed if you got it to 3500. Interior parts really don't weigh much. Stripping the entire interior down to the metal and removing the sound deadening material from the cabin will barely lose 100 pounds. Then you've got no dash, no seats, no nothing so you have to add stuff back in. Even replacing these things with lightweight equivalents isn't going to help you that much.
If you really want the car, love the style, etc - then get it. It's mass will make it handle better on rought surfaces and AWD will give you more confidence in inclement weather. It will never weigh 3000 pounds, just take that into consideration when you're doing the mototr and add some more power that you're planning. -Justin |
