does any one know how much boost you can push on a stock rb20det?

you can push whatever you want.. 14-16 is pushing it on stock components.. but it is common for most to just run 10-12

I run 18psi on a stock longblock, no mls headgasket or studs. I met a guy at drift fury 4 last year that ran 22psi on his setup.

well i got a t3/t4 for it so i can push more, do you know anything about boaring out i know with 40 over yo need rb26dett crank and rods and block modding and i head that most still scratch the block or something like that and with a 20 over you still need rb25det crank, and i am not looking to get that deep into it so i wandering if the stock piston were already forged or of i found some aftermarket ones if it would be a beneficial upgrade

^^^the stock pistons are cast unfortunately. RB20's are NOT junk they are a very well balanced engine. If you want to dump money into it you can go with a rb26 crank and rods. Bore it 3mm over and the typical thing to do is use toyota 4agze pistons, and you will have a displacement of 2.4L. Use aftermarket forged pistons and the setup is bulletproof. The only thing you can do for the head that I know of is going with a 26 valvespring and lifter setup. With this valve train you can run stock 26 cams or go with a set of kelford cams 272*. I rebuilt a rb20 in a s14 mid last year for a customer, using stock pistons with the bottom end being re-ringed and new bearings, with a gt30, intake & exhaust manifolds, cams, and a power fc at 18 pounds put 388 to the ground. Porsches and BMW's are no match at road atlanta!

Why would you use a RB26 crank? Sorry, I'm new to the RB world but I'm trying to learn bc I'm preparing to do a RB20 build up. And what about this crank collar issue I hear about some RB20's and early RB26's having?

The 26 crank is a stronger, better balanced crank. The crank collar issue is the snout on the end of the crank. Some snouts are short, some are longer. The snout itself is what drives the oil pump. The short snouts have less contact area on the oil pump compared to the long snout. JUN auto sells the crank collar kit to convert the short snout to a long snout design for around $50 to your front door. Machine work is required to use this kit.

Alright that makes sense. Do you know where I could get forged pistons and rods for a RB20? Also an aftermarket intake manifold?

Supertech is suppossed to be producing an oem style forged piston soon, if not now. As for rods you're on your own.

have you ever ran accross some damaged block due to boring out cuz some were i heard that it will scatch the block and some stuff like that
