so... leme guess he go to the auto-x lifted the car put the tires with slicks on finger tight the lugnuts but forgot to torque them down and it broke most of the studs?

i'd say fire the pit crew.:rofl:

from what i gathered.. they where aftermarket lugs that were to big and striped out

yeah that's the only thing i can really see happening. i mean all the tires fell off, even if he had hand tightened them you'd expect at least one tire to stay on.

There is no way he should have passed tech inspect, he shouldn't have been allowed to GRID and he SHOULDN'T have gotten anywhere near the start box.

Tech inspect is supposed to make sure that your car is in safe order before entering the track, loose, stripped and missing lugs are ALL covered in the SCCA rule book . . .that safety stewart needs to go read that book and try again.

In the mean time that safety stweart either needs to be FIRED or SUSPENDED for his blatant disregard for safety on the track.

You can't tell from that video, but that was a gorgeous car. He was behind me in tech inspection, I was admiring it. There can't be that many clean RX-7s left. The bodywork around the wheel wells is now completely ruined. The brake rotors bent enough that even once the stock wheels were put back on, the car didn't want to roll.

Good, I hope he sues the SCCA, then THEY'LL need a disclaimer for their STUPID ASS STEWARTS!!!

even so... does no one have common sense now a days? the lugs nuts dont thread on dont force it ya i know it sux just try another day with the correct lug nuts but nope you just F***** up your car good job:thumb:

bingo....the driver is to blame. so what if someone else fell asleep on the job. if you can't get the lug nuts on the studs right you have no business driving the car.

true the driver IS to blame somewhat, however, it's the JOB of the Safety Stewart to make sure that whatever the driver "forgets" or "neglects" is bought to light and corrected or that person is NOT allowed on the track. I'm sorry but even though the driver IS at fault, the Safety Stewart is the one that, eventually, should get the blame and should have his file placed under review by the board.
