Honda owner, curious about 240's
Hey fellas, my name Wayne and I currently own a '98 Prelude. I went to import meet over the weekend and noticed plenty of 240's showing up. Well...I'm now curious about them...hehehe..
I've been doing some searching, trying to get some basic info. I tried Google, this site and others but I'm not finding anything cut and dry so I was wondering if someone here might be able to sum it up for me. Can anyone point me to a link that shows me the "Generations/years" breakdown and the levels of "trim" that were available. I a little confused on all that, for example...I've seen some that have a plain hood and other that have a crease gong down each side of the hood and slightly different headlights. Well, that's about all really, thanks for listening and I appreciate your help. Wayne |

I think the only thing the 240SX has over a Prelude is rear wheel drive. I've driven both of these cars.
Obviously, I'm partial to the 240SX because I'm here and because I own one ;) But, a Prelude is a surprisingly quick and fun car. Anyways, a basic break-down of the model years and trims... 1989 First model year, SOHC engine with 140HP 1990 Pretty much the same as a 1989, but with a bit of a facelift 1991-1994 Same as 1990, except with a 155HP DOHC engine 1995-1996 Entirely new look, no more popup headlights, but basically the same, mechanically, as the 1991-1994 models. 1997-1998 Still the same underneath, but with some aggressive-looking trim and projector head-lamps. This is just some basic info I'm sure you can find more by searching the web. In fact, here ya go ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/240SX |
Welcome!

it didnt get a face lift until 91. 89-90 still had the same front end.
|
89-93 had coupe variations as well as fastback
|
and the 94 only came in vert. thats 2 mistakes epp_b! lol j/k

Great, thanks for the replies from everyone so far.
I'll do some more searching, it's just sucks sometimes cause I'm on dial-up, lol. I know what you're thinking...this guy owns a 5th gen Prelude and he's still using dial-up??? lol... Don't get me wrong, I love my Prelude, but what really turns me on about the 240's is the RWD, aggressive look and wide tires on the back. So I'm assuming the 95-98 models are the S14 chassis configuration? I think this is the year range that I like :) |
You should like s14's, there the best
See...... Local Kouki. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p.../local2402.jpg Yes that is IC piping you see And I also have a '98, but everybody has seen it enough. |
^^Nice^^
So that must be the model with the more agressive trim package, huh? |
Its not a trim package, more like body style
That red one is base model. You can tell by it being four lug. 95-98 there was base and SE, in 97-98 they also added LE Base model hade 4 lug. SE and LE had 5 lug 95-96 body style (zenki) here's a pic. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...b/IMG_9451.jpg 97-98 body style (kouki) here's a pic.(my car) http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p...b/mycar1-1.jpg Only differance between zenki and kouki is the headlights and taillights. |
