where does everyone get their cold air intakes at?

l2aine 10-09-2005 11:47 PM

injen, ebay, the cold air intake store

dak2007 10-10-2005 05:20 AM

the ones on ebay just look fake.

CowboyTurbo 10-10-2005 06:08 AM

Santa's elves make custom ones in the North Pole.

shotty53 10-10-2005 11:44 AM

go for name brand ones on ebay.
aem, injen, etc

Badazz_240 10-10-2005 11:57 AM

yeah..... i just ordered an aem for my s14, for 120 + 20 shipping and insurance over 50 bucks less than other places

dak2007 10-10-2005 12:01 PM

i bought a k&n filter and removed the air box thing. what's the difference between that and a cold air intake besides the fact that the cold air intake looks better?

Bryan 10-10-2005 12:56 PM

cold air intake usually is routed behind the front bumper somewhere

twofourtyesex 10-11-2005 08:27 AM

scratch all that, relocate intake to intake side, short s-pipe, straight to cone filter, battery to the trunk. that way all the air coming in isn't "heated up" when it crosses over the radiator, simply to get to the throttle body. plus it decreases the 3 feet of intake pipng to less than a foot. much better throttle response.

nissan dumb design, redesigned.

....20 bucks for the cone, maybe a little custom pipe searching at your local hardware/plumbing stores, and some battery/grounding wires.

also you gotta take your MAF sensor off the stock airbox and attach it to the new setup so you don't get a check engine light.

have fun.

twofourtyesex 10-12-2005 09:08 PM

sorry no pictures from this mod yet, i havent done it to my s13 yet, but everything is "prepped" once it's it the car i'll post some pics and a full writeup of it on the n/a page, just keep checking / searching. remember... SEARCH !!! ffor your own knowledge as well as not beating the horse.

CowboyTurbo 10-13-2005 06:31 AM

what kind of wires do you use to run to the trunk, how do you run the wires, and how'd you secure the batter in the trunk...?

twofourtyesex 10-13-2005 07:53 PM

you have two choices, either buy a battery "trunk relocation kit"..... something to this effect...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unive...spagenameZWDVW

.. or you can ghetto rig and simply buy pos and neg wire extensions from auto zone or equivilent

i shall post some pics and a writeup very very soon

The way I did it on my car was I used a Summit aluminum box and wire kit. I like the box but if I'd do it again I'd buy car audio wire and terminals... Anyway you just drill holes in the trunk to tie it down. Then run atleast a 4 gauge wire off the battery, ground it somewhere in the trunk and run the positive lead up to the engine bay.
