pacesetter header...

I just installed a pacesetter header on my car today to replace the stupid stock manifold which leaked like hell... made my car sound like a pissed off lawn mower...

quality... as good as any other header i have bought...
price... less than 200 bucks...
installation... pain in the ass to connect to stock system... but it went together... suggest you have a second person help you with the install...
impressions... i am happy with the piece... i would rather the o2 sensor not be on top of the header... but all in all it works... made the stock exhaust sound deeper with no rice pop and crackle...

I was considering a pacesetter. But I'm also looking at OBX and DC. I heard DC is crap for 240's.

wikd240 06-12-2005 04:54 AM

the dc is a nice part... i sold one 2 weeks ago to a guy here i knoxville...had i not sold it i would have put it on my car yesterday... dc did a very good job on it... i dont know how well it worked because i never put it on... i got the pace setter because it was in stock at the parts store... i would have had to wate a week to get the obx unit...

how are hotshot headers? they seem to be well made, but i havent heard from anyone on them

Slidin240 06-12-2005 02:12 PM

can i see a pic of it wikd240 i wanna see how it looks

RealDS13 06-12-2005 03:52 PM

So far the only review i've heard about would be the OBX headers and HotShot headers. Using the Obx header 've heard they aren't too great, the tend to crack, with the hotshot headers (my friends) It seems to be really nice. Wish more companies made headers for the KA engine.

240sx544 06-16-2005 06:56 PM

ight tha tsounds good i might head up and purchase one of those headers and p[aint it with HT paint

I have a NA KA. I have a apexi ni 3inch ex. I lost low end torque. should I put on headers or would I lose more low end torque.

wikd240 06-17-2005 04:10 PM

use a 2.5 inch exhaust on a na motor... other than swapping out the exhaust to a smaller one i dont know if a header will help you out or not...

Durrr 07-12-2005 05:43 PM

header would only further decrease backpressure, therefore, killing low end torque, but hotshot headers are nice, i have a friend w/ one and it sounds mean w/ no cats :)

Chiefgmsr 07-12-2005 05:47 PM

yea i know so im gettin rid of the 3in

Slidin240 07-12-2005 09:47 PM

keep the exhaust and stock exhaust manifold. are u plannin on turbo?

simplistek 08-15-2005 08:34 PM

just my 2cents, i heard that the best headers for the 240 are the hotshot headers. im lookin at the pacesetters as well but how do you guys think it'll do with heatwraps?

fyi back pressure doesn't mean **** when you talk about a ka

and if anyone is planing on getting a header please only get a hotshot and an 3inch catback

Hotshots exit at 2.5", so if youre going to stay N/A itd be retarded to spend the extra cash on a 3" exhaust.

I have a hotshot, stock cat (which is 2.5" in and out) and 2.5" brm exhaust and im pleased with performance but the header makes it loud. its raspy too but im not sure if thats the header doing that too or what... I ordered my BRM with a 22" center muffler and its still loud and raspy

the pacesetter header has helped my car in the 2000 and up rpm ranges... you can actually hear and feel the power in that rpm range... it has done me right so far.... i still have the stock exhaust system with stock cat so i should gain a little more when i change my exhaust system and cat...

it was a good buy for me and have had no problems with is as of yet...

Anyone running the megan racing headers for the 240? They are all over ebay and I have been hearing good things lately about megan products ( sr20det downpipes and coilovers ). What kind of performance gains are you guys seeing when you install your headers?

Sieji 09-06-2005 02:17 PM

DC headers aren't bad... I've used DC before and I like their manufacture method/quality. They have a proven dyno sheet on their site. Oh and ceramic coating is o-sooo-sexy.
