Strut bars

Who makes some well built and strut bar (front and back) to help stiffen up the ride and madke add some glimmer to the engine bay?

Thanx:thumb:

I always liked the Cusco os strut bars since they are beefy. Score big if you find a nismo one. I have the front nismo strut bar but couldn't find a rear nismo strut bar (did they ever make one??) N-e ways i picked up a Cusco OS type bar and you could add a part which makes it a 3 Pointer. N-e ways hope this helps a little

I was gonna say that...grrrr. Yeah the rear OS bar has a part called the OS-T...it triangluates the rear strut towers to the floor pan=stiffy in the rear.

Cool. Thanks for the input. I am getting a Tanabe front strut back because Andy's Auto Sport advertised tail lights for my car, 3 weeks later, I get a call tell me that they no longer carry those lights...so I went with the Tanabe bar, and a nice refund.

Does anyone know where I can get tail lights for my 91 240SX?

Thanks!!!

You have a lot of choices there.....you can modify your stock ones (several ppl on here have that..look at s13240's car), you can buy ebay altezza style (chrome or black)...you can get those and then modify them (looks good), or you can go all out and get the kouki 180 taillights

Stock: Free
Ebay altezza: Usually $50-100
Kouki: $400+

does it really matter name brand for the sturt bars.

91240SXGuy 04-30-2006 06:27 PM

I don't think so, however, I beleive you should have something that is going to actually probivide stability, other wise your just waisting time & $$$.

BIG_T 05-02-2006 11:52 AM

+1 to that

Bryan 05-02-2006 01:11 PM

Get ones that are not adjustable

NiSmO Knight 05-03-2006 01:17 PM

CUSCO!!!!!! LOL, most functional for the price.

And yes, Nismo makes / made a rear strut bar upper and lower. Dont know if it ever made to the US. I swore I saw it in the Nismo catalog when they first came to the US. I could be wrong. Then again, Nismo is starting to carry less and less at the dealers and their web site. I guess the market here isnt as popular back in Japan. But then again, who the hell wants to pay the rediculous mark-up from those a-hole dealers?

When they first came to the US, the Nismo carbon fiber shift knob was only 75 bux with dealer mark-up. A year later, they want over 150? And to have that in a Nismo edition 350z, they charge 200? What a load of crap. Im not even going near the prices for my S14, but jus to make some ppl cringe, they wanted 500 for the front sub-frame (the silver pretty looking one)... Prices are now cooling down, but 1.) dealers aren't carrying majority of the products for 240 anymore and 2.) the dealers are hiring some dumb @$$ ppl to wrk the counters.

Back to subject, Cusco makes some kick a$$ strut bars. Come to think of it... We have the Cusco front bar and 3 point rear upper strut bar in our Formula D car... I like it... Also have Cusco in the rear suspension.

ka-tfresh 05-09-2006 01:50 PM

haha

vnguyen38 05-11-2006 08:34 PM

greddy's might be cheap in general but they sure get you some bang for your buck

91240SXGuy 05-23-2006 09:57 AM

I've got a Greddy front bar order, but it's been on back order for at least the past 2 months. So, I'm patiently waiting.

Cusco makes a good rear strut bar, eh?!? I'll have to look into that when I got the $$$.

Tail lights can be had on Ebay? I thought that most of that stuff was garbage. I've heard some bad stories people have had buying stuff off Ebay. Anyone got some input?

Thanks all!!!

ReigH 05-25-2006 07:41 AM

c-pillar bar helps too

Jebman 05-25-2006 09:47 AM

There are plenty of reputable sellers on ebay, just check their feedback before you buy. However, no matter where you buy altezza tail lights, imo they're going to look like crap.

XxCrimson240xX 05-25-2006 12:10 PM

^agreed.

either go kouki...or don't go at all.

i plan on blacking out the lower portion of the tail lights.

the amber colored part.

i'm going with a black/white theme on my car...

:)

re037 05-25-2006 11:55 PM

i have some old c-tune bars, looks just like greddy and cusco minus the price

91240SXGuy 06-11-2006 07:20 AM

I finally got my strut bar...Greddy. It was on backorder forever and a day. Looks sweet and definately added some stiffness to the front suspension.

I took my car for a run up this mountain near my house with crazy tight turns, and got her going sideways! What an RUSH! I love Drifting!!!

Thanks everyone.

PS Who makes a good rear bar?

ryderg 06-20-2006 10:13 PM

S14 Nismo rear strut tower brace is available here:
http://www.courtesyparts.com/nismo/240sx/index.html
they might sell one for the S13 too, never checked. It ain't cheap but watch out on ebay cuz a lot of the ones that say they're for 240's totally won't fit.

Bringing back another old thread, I appologise I am at work and bored out of my F'in mind :) For those JDM Heads, I am about to pick up a Tomie 3 Point Front Strut Bar, it attatchs to your strut points but also to the firewall. I will have to move the lines going to the Brake Booster up a little to provide mounting points but it will be 100% worth it, I have someone buying my old parts car in total so he is giving me $350.00 for that, the Tomei bar is going to run me $225.00 shipped. Yep flame on if you must. Look at the Cusco 3 point, with the 2 pieces you are running about the same price, I am probably going to pick one of those up too. If you know Tomei, you know the Sexy Green you get with it, pending on condition I may paint it the color of my Valve cover when I get it done. As stated, at work now, if anyone would like I could post up a picture...

DrifterK8 01-22-2007 10:25 PM
