Check your local auto store or hobby store, forgot what the name of it is. But I knoe those types of stores have the red paint for taillights

the most common type is testors transparent candy apple red. i have done it on my 4 runner.

go to a craft store and look for that testors transparent candy apple red in the scale model section and if they dont have that look for some spray window stain thats stuff works just as good but dont forget to hit it with clear afterwords.

I did mine with candy apple transparent and let it dry for about 45 min. Then I sprayed clear and let it dry for about 30.also i taped off the black around the light when i painted the red then took it off when i did the clear.Just tape off the reverse lights and paint the center panel...

i would deffinatly paint the center also otherwise it will be two diff shades of red.

I did it, I got two cans of candy apple red and only painted the amber part , while the tails where on my car. What advantage would I get by using clearcoat, its not off in color that much. I will post some pics tommorow of how it turned out.
