Body kit before engine work???

Ok, well my car has a blown headgasket and were just going to replace it, and were repainting the car right away as well since the car has some dents and dings were going to pull. But is it stupid to get a bodykit, before I do some engine work? I mean I thought it would be better to just get one now since were painting the car in like 2 weeks. Or is that just stupid?

imo i would do engine work first and then do body work..but thats my opinion

if you are painting the car in 2 weeks no matter what, and plan on getting some kind of body kit in the future, then do the body work first, if you can paint it later, do engine work first.

Yeah Bro, Engine Before Body

i'm in the same situation you are. (minus the engine problems)
FIX the engine.
Then body work and paint
THEN aftermarket engine parts.

I loove my power, and love my speed, but i want my car to LOOK good for the summer. As it is my daily driver, in today's world looks speak louder then power to most people... and its all about the impression you make.

So, i'm fixing the door, pulling dents, putting on body-kit and spoilers, painting. THEN, everything else after that is performance. :)

I'd say if your going to paint it now do the body work now instead of having to respray it all again later

^yea, more efficient

it's not exactly slow to begin with, so i say go for waht makes you happy and if tha'ts the body kit, then do it..

phreze Mar 12, 2006 10:04 AM

If your smart you will get the bodykit on when you paint the car, it will cost less, only have to give it up once for paint instead of twice, paint will fade evenly (when it does), etc.

If all you need is a new headgasket then after your car comes out the shop get one.

Ive made my decision and were going to ahead with getting and installing the kit before we get my car painted. I just ordered the Raceonusa(i know, i know but it was cheap) Railworks bodykit. And were still trying to find the paint code for the burnt orange color that the new Mitsu Eclipse has. Then were paint the roof of the car, headlight covers and hood black....its going to look sexy...specially with some black rims with a polished chrome lip....haha. Ill post pics in a few weeks of progress and finish...thats if you guys are interested.

Ummm...make sure the engine runs good....then suspension/brakes/wheels...then engine performance...THEN bodywork IMO...

LA_phantom_240 Mar 13, 2006 07:00 PM

well IMO you should NEVER do bodywork without having the car run right first, that is unless you have a deadline to meet or a specific window of opportunity. In which case its a-ok to me.

im doing body woirk before my motor, only cus im sick of building motors. (damn lsvtec) and i also want this car to look much nicer than my old integra did. the 240 was the first car i wanted and i want it to be exactly what i wanted.
