Dash beginning to crack

I was cleaning my car the other day, and to my horror I looked and my dash has a small crack beginning to form. I saw another thread on here that said put superglue in it, but im not so sure about that. Especially since only one person replied to the thread. I doubt I can fix it, but anyone know a good way to prevent it from getting bigger?

Windshield cover to prevent the sun from harming it even more. And some armor all would help protect it too.

Yea, I plan on doing that, but what I meant was: is it a good idea to put glue (or silicone or something else) in the crack.

you might be able to use those vinyl upholstery repair kits... but as far back as I remember, I've never seen anyone get the repair to look exact :dunno:

buy the extra one that i have. its mint but i will not ship. where you at?

I live near Pensacola FL, but I dont really need a whole dash. Right now the crack is only about a half cm long. I think Ill just buy one of the vinyl repair kits, I forgot they even existed.

Believe it or not I did do a few searches before I posted this.

dont get the vinyl repair kits, i used it on my crack in the dash which was half an inch big and it looked fine for the first week but about the 3rd week after using it, it starts flaking. i was like F**King ______(word of your choice), now the crack seemed to grew to about 3/4 inch and it is ugly. its yellow

oh well i found a dash at the local junkyard. i say dont do anything to it, if its not that noticeabale, or use a dash cover even though its ugly

Thanks for the tip. Mind if I ask what what brand you used? I just really want to avoid a dash cover *shudder*.

I highly recommend replacing the dash. Thats the way I went and I'm glad that I did. It looks great and it's garonteed to work everytime. Super glue and upolstry are 2nd rate short cuts.

ARMOR ALL THE *****!!! protect the rest!!!

Dont use the upholstery repair kit, during the repair you will applying heat and that will make the crack worse....use black gasket material, like what you use for door, glass gasket repairs and fill the crack using the toothpick, dont use a lot, the less the better. Let it dry and protect the dash from damaging sun rays and others.......

Actually, don't use Armor-All... it looks good temporarily, but is full of silicons and contaminates that will in time crack your dash.
