LOL looks like it has a disease and it's dieing take the yellow off

ErnGotti 07-28-2008 11:17 AM

It would look nicer, I think, if you could clear up the amber directionals/markers. That way there will be fewer colors all in one spot.

k_wakasugi 07-28-2008 12:37 PM

An interesting choice, how does it affect visibility?

rbs13muscle 07-28-2008 01:29 PM

you can see things a little brighter than with out the film
it makes a diffrence at night

k_wakasugi 07-28-2008 01:30 PM

May I ask why your license plate is flipped backward?

Bumnah 07-28-2008 01:58 PM

how does adding colored film make you see farther?

rbs13muscle 07-28-2008 02:30 PM

i dont know why my licence plate is backwards!!! lol

it dosen't make you see farther it just lets you notice things that you whould not notice with clear headlights.

bumnah your sr20 swap is clean!

yellowrocco87 07-28-2008 03:11 PM

it would look even better if you would stop being cheap and buy laminex and not use amber light repair film. and don't say you didn't i put that same crap on my fog lights back in the day you can see where you had to use several strips on the headlight. come on man a sheet of laminex is what 30 bucks and it can do 2 and be clear and look better. retry it:)

If you have "white" lighting, you can only see so much. Yellow allows the contrast of things to "stand out" (not sure if Im making any sense) but I can sorta understand what he is saying.

Although Im not allowed to see pics at work, I can tell you that the film does more harm than good. I'd recommend just using yellow head light bulbs.

Drift Motion 07-28-2008 03:57 PM

**** man that looks retarded, get some H4 yellow glass housing if u want this look

I think this notion is rooted in the fact that yellow light waves are longer than white light waves, thus making them less likely to reflect off of the water in fog or when driving in rain. Buuuutttt... it's pretty much generally accepted that both white and yellow will reflect the same amount in any kind of crappy weather.

P.S. reflecting off of water in air = poorer visibility.

NiSmO Knight 07-28-2008 04:20 PM

/\ hence why they tell you never to use the high beams in foggy weather LOL

I know someone who learned the hard way... guess that fool didnt pay much attention in driver's ed.

k_wakasugi 07-28-2008 04:25 PM

Haha yeah... using your high beams is pretty much the worse thing you can do when driving through fog in terms of visibility. Except for maybe wearing a blindfold :p

NiSmO Knight 07-28-2008 04:45 PM

The only thing the guy told us when the flat bed brought his integra in was:

"I had my low beams on AND my fog lights... but I couldnt see ****, so I thought my high beams would help me burn away some of the fog while driving... I mean, the high beams get hot you know? Then that stupid guard rail came out of no where and now its all jacked up. I know my insurance wont pay for a replacement Type R front end... can you guys hook it up?"

And he meant the JDM front end... oh man did we ream him when he tried to low ball my shop... You have NO idea what we did to his car... dont ask to pay 1/3 the price for a HUGE job and expect us to get all brand new OEM parts. Especially from Japan!

rbs13muscle 07-28-2008 05:12 PM

took yellowrocco87"s advise and bought the lamin-x headlight film an hour ago
even though it was some harsh advise

idk man....if I were you, I'd just buy the clear projector H4 conversion off eBay, and get the NOKYA yellow H4 bulbs off ebay too. Wouldn't cost you more than 50 bucks, and you really can see father and better!...kinda like this...

k_wakasugi 07-29-2008 08:15 AM

do those ebay H4 converter's actually do any good? I've only read bad things about them (e.g poor cutoff, scattered light, etc.)

silviaks2nr 07-29-2008 11:26 AM

Yellow film filters out all the emitted light from the spectrum except yellow. While the yellow may be easier on your eyes or have better visibility in poor weather conditions you are reducing the amount of usable light put out on the road. Personally I think it looks ugly too.

Darkvillin 09-05-2008 02:50 PM

it looks like your car smoked a fatty. lol

crazydrifter 09-05-2008 03:18 PM

if i had those yellow head lights where i live i might as well have a giant sign on top of my car that says "PULL ME OVER".

Then again i got a ticket every week i had my sr20 for "loud exhaust"(main reason i sold it) but it might be different in other areas.
