Kouki Conversion!!??

if there is a thread for this i'm sorry, but does anyone know how much the full conversion usually costs?

Bryan 09-05-2005 09:45 AM

depends, do you want to use new OEM parts, used OEM parts or aftermarket parts?

Badazz_240 09-05-2005 09:48 AM

It really doesn't matter to me. I just dont like the zenki lights on the car i might get. I am probably going to just go with an OEM hood, and probably get some aftermarket fenders (if i can find any cool looking ones) and maybe an aftermarket bumper. I would get a cf hood, but i want my car all one color ( it's bad to paint cf right? )

edit: its a 96 SE that i might get by the way

if you get brand new OEM, say from a dealership, you will get raped for prices. You could try and find someone parting out a kouki on these boards and others, but sometimes those parts are hard to come by, but in the end would probably cost you a few hundred. If you buy aftermarket parts depending on the quality the price will be significantly more, I'd say for all aftermarket parts except headlights, expect to pay about $1500 or more for quality parts, quality being the key word.

cool, so if i go with a part out, it should cost me about 500?.... does that include the lights or no?.... i like the OEM look more than a "rice" look, but ive seen some pretty cool fenders (bmw style) on civics..... wouldnt look right on a 240 i dont think. Anyway..... if i go with a part out or a junkyard (probably very hard to find in a junkyard) whats the price im looking at on average

its gunna be more expensive than that im afraid, the lights alone will be 400 (corners, headlights, bumper lights etc) expect to pay atleast 800. why not just find a kouki?

Badazz_240 09-05-2005 12:00 PM

Believe me i would like to but im over near the west coast. I have tried to find a 97-98 with no luck (note my sig), if you know of anyone selling one over here for a fair price lemme know. I can get a 96 se for about 5500 or less from a dealership..... I know this isnt the thread for this but should i get it? (dealerships are a no no but I don't have many options )....... anyway 800 is quite a pricetag but i am in love with kouki lights.

if you do get a Zenki once you source together all the Kouki front end pieces you can always sell your old front end and make some of the money back

nsn240 09-05-2005 06:00 PM

holy crap dude, a zenki for 5500? lemme know if you find a black or blue 5sp SE... even if ur on the west coast

not to jack the thread or anything, but that 1995 SE I told you about here in Harrisburg is now $4500, its auto though

Badazz_240 09-06-2005 03:12 AM

a transmission change is too much work for me..... even though im buying a new engine and trans....... ( sr20 or rb26 w/ rb25 trans )..... either way, i have an at now and i need to get used to a manual again. Also, i like '96 better than a 95, just because its a newer car and the one im looking at is in very good condition.

edit: the car i might get may be salvaged, but is that such a bad thing?.... if the frame is straight and there is no rust is it still a good car or should i just look for another car?......... im not even sure it is salvaged anyway, because im still awaiting email from the dealership

Preston 09-06-2005 03:43 AM

I highly doubt it's salvaged if it's from a dealership. They usually don't wanna mess with that sh!t. And if it is, expect to pay a lot all the time on dumb little things that break. A wrecked car is never the same once it's wrecked. You can make it look exactly the same as it did, but it's just never the same. You get weird little creaks and rattles and things break. IMO it's not worth it unless you're willing to be ready for that.

Badazz_240 09-06-2005 03:44 AM

Really?........ well then why do people always give dealers a bad time?

edit: the dealer doesnt list the miles on the site..... is that a bad sign?

edit#2: sorry for kind of chaning the topic...... also the kouki stuff bolts right up with no modification right?.... or at least no cutting/ welding?

Bryan 09-06-2005 03:47 AM

personally when it comes to vehicles, dealers aren't too bad, its when it comes to buying OEM parts that dealers suck ass

and if you get everything it will bolt up

Badazz_240 09-06-2005 08:40 PM

Just to give an update on the car i was looking at...... 180k miles......
