My homemade cowl hood

It is by no means finished yet, so it still looks like ass. Got a bit warped in spots from spot welding the supports underneath. In my quest for a stiffer & better fitting hood I just said f*** it & decided to do this. The hood doesnt flex at all now.
I know alot may not like it but hey, it's my car, it was free & it is different. Right now it was done solely for looks, BUT is very functional.

Mechanical fuel & oil pressure. I never mount them in the cockpit. Plus the gauges will be molded into the hood, so they will be kinda hard to steal.

not a fan of the cowl induction hood look but i love just about anything that is diy.

*Tx_BLooD_240* Mar 31, 2008 12:08 PM

eh.....it's different!:bigok:

urmyhero4now Mar 31, 2008 12:39 PM

jesus christ people are being so nice about this....but this thing is ****in hideous...and just because it was free? cmon man just cuz something is free doesnt mean you should do it to your car. it was fine as a stock hood...that hood looked WAY better stock...and what function does a cowl hood have on a stock kae in a 240?...if you did it for....umm the guages maybe..you could have made some guage pods and mounted them outside.

i mean im always for diy....but this....this has gone too far. sorry.

Project Cheap13 Mar 31, 2008 01:05 PM

Well, that is your opinion, so be it.
I know what I COULD have done. It was far from "fine" as a stock hood.
It is also "stock" because I have only had about $600 to spend on the car..I do have a family & bills to pay.

sorry..for what? It's your opinion & you are entitled to it. I do not get offended at all about what people say about my vehicles. I do it because I want to, that is all. If people get ignorant, I just do not bother responding to them.
Don't like it, don't look at it. That is my view.

**shakes head**

ummmm....

wow...thats about all i can say..i also think that was a waste of a stock hood

Tops* Mar 31, 2008 02:01 PM

it's like Fox Body Mustang meets S13.

the hood looks really beat.

94Boy Mar 31, 2008 03:19 PM

Ok i think it looks bad right now. But I am not going to say any thing more until it is done. Never seen how it looks so,

silviaks2nr Mar 31, 2008 03:49 PM

cool idea, but i think you over did it just a tad. looks like you made some nipples on the hood too :(

energy0uth Mar 31, 2008 05:34 PM

just seems like it should have waited when it really was more functional or necessary but its progress I guess and interested in how it will turn out

[QUOTE=Project Cheap13;360947]Did you not read the last sentenance

yeah i read it but i still dont know why you did it you could have put that time into something else on your car instead.

ryguy Mar 31, 2008 09:17 PM

I dont like it, but I respect the fact that you understand everybody has an opinion. Thats more than most can say.
