I've been meaning to get around to doing this for a while, so here's some pictures of my work in progress. Picked the car up about 3 weeks ago with rod knock from a local 240 enthusiast, and have been cleaning the car up and tearing out the old motor, getting it ready for a fresh KA in the next week or so.

These pictures were taken before clay bar and wax. Thinking about smoking the tails, or getting those 'jdm' clear/red tails like these--> http://tinyurl.com/8p29t . I think the clear/red ones would look pretty baller on a black coupe. Suggestions?

As you can tell I am a skilled mechanic. :laugh: I have already removed difficult and complex engine components such as the airbox, AIV, spark plug wires, and the battery.

Why I want a bra. Car had one at one point during its life, and as you can see the front is all screwed up because of it. Only bad paint on the entire vehicle. If anyone has a bra that'll fit the chuki front, let me know, I want it. Need it to hide the crap paint until I get another paintjob.

I'd say this might be the cause of the knocking. What's left of the rod bearing. Rod #1 (closest to front of engine) has about 3-4mm of play to it on the crankshaft. Looks like it and the crank are toast.

My last 240, the 90 coupe. I still miss it, and especially the pignose. Way hotter than the stupid Chuki front. :(
