they are rx330 afs projectors (the ones that swivel when you turn) with the foreground limiters removed, a custom cutoff shield, and 300zx clear halogen lenses
this is the colorband at 70ft

the foreground limiters block the light right in front of the car and also cut down on alot of glare in chrome housings where the projector is mounted further back (sc430, rx330, among others)

here is what the limiter looked like:

when the limiter is removed some of the down the road intensity is lost. i would reccomend not removing the limiters

this is with the custom shield and the limiter removed. the factory shield is below

hey silviaks2nr, how do you get the e46 bi-xenon harness to work with the stock s13 wiring? is it complicated? and why cant u be closer to jersey so that i can become your padawan learner of automotive lighting?

well there isnt really a harness for the e46 setup, you will need hid bulbs, projectors, and 35w ballasts to keep power at a constant level to the bulbs, the ballasts have a plug that will plug up to the bulb in the back of the projectors just like with halogen lamps. to get power to the ballast you will need an aftermarket relay to bypass the factory headlamp wiring, but you can use the 12v + factory harness as a trigger to activate the aftermarket relayed harness and power the ballasts/bulbs (to come on with your oem light switch). some people have had sucess just splicing the + and - ballast wires into the factory headlamp harnesses but i dont think it is worth the risk.

sorry to revive a dead one, but can anyone comment on the quality of the oem (jdm whatever) silvia dual or tri projectors? do they usually give a nice, crisp beam pattern and cut off?

would you have to custom fab a shield or try to retro one and make it work? what kind of process is it to change it to lhd?

you could try 300zx,j30, or s14 kouki projector shields. i am pretty sure the 300z would work without any mods (just screws into the bottom of the projector like the factory shield)
