How much boost on stock IC?

I just got my car running, what is the max. safe boost on the stock sidemount and Walbro fuel pump? I have an S14 SR20DET. Thanks alot. I've searched and found little, seems like from what I found 10 psi as long as you run 93 octane. I used to run 11 psi on my Z31 with no IC at all so I was thinking I could atleast go to 12 psi with 93 octane.

if you are planning on boosting higher than stock. i'd recommend picking up a cheap ebay intercoolr or the greddy type m intercooler which is their "entry" level intercooler.

as for the how much the stock intercooler can do. i' m sure you can push it up a few psi past stock, but for me the risk vs gain isn't worth it.

12 psi is def. out of the questions i think to boost on a stock ic.

yea they are not big enough to hold large volumes of boost. you will experience quicker boosting with a smaller SMIC ( Side Mount Inter-cooler) but cooling is an issue when very hot outside.

also the turbo itself will determine how much boost you can run..

example

T25 @ 8psi= 205 hp ( stock )

GT35R @ 8psi= 300+ hp range ( much bigger turbo)

no turbo is created equally unless they are the same make and even then lil factors could make another turbo spool faster or slower.

im running this FMIC and other buddies have it with close to 500whp on other cars

Which IC is that? Are there any IC's available with 2.5" piping. Most the ebay units are 3" and I'll never utilize the capabilities of an IC whith piping that llarge. I have the stock T28 on my car and I plan on running that one or something very similar.

i think you are confused with 3' inlet on the intercooler ( 2.5 to 3" couplers will be needed) pretty much all of the kits have 2.5 piping

ssac intercooler with universal piping

Does this one have 2.5" piping or 3"? THe inlet/outlet is 3" and some ends of some of the pipe look like they might be hte same.

looks good to me but you have to be careful belive it or not as much as people down ssac ( uneducated) there are companies who knockoff ssac.... so i would just get an ssac brand fmic kit... and save your self from the pain. every weld on my intercooler was flawless.

i paid 200 for mine FMIC with piping plus shipping

all the pipes are bent and manufactured in the same plant. i wouldnt be worried. it isnt a bad idea to wash out the inside of the piping with soapy water before you install it.

ive made piping that uses a 3 inch for the cold side. great response. 3rd gear sliding on banked ovals at stock boost. no probs.

dont run a side mount over stock wastegate pressure. they are too small and dont get the required air flow to handle the heat soak.
