Intercooler question

I sound like a noob now tried searching this but, this year im going front mount on my sr and wondering if i put it on would i have to get it tune due to the bov?

battosaii930 03-26-2009 09:21 PM

no

Whoa, don't elaborate too much battosaii LOL!

battosaii930 03-27-2009 02:23 AM

lol well 95% of the people with SR have non recirculating blow off vavles and very little of them are tuned so i thought it was obvious.

most that will happen is you car stalling coming to a red light with the a/c on

I've had experience with three BOV's. Both the sincronic and greedy bov may stall when coming to a stop when coming off boost.... the HKS would be the best... opens and shut quickly....so no stalling.

When having the ecu tuned (JIM WOLF/RS ENTHALPY) they can compensate for the greddy/syncronic by keeping the idle up a bit over 1k rpm until the car comes to a complete stop (0mph) thereby eliminatting the stalling common with these types.

Hope that helped

Just recirculate its easier and you wont stall greddy type S has an adapter to buy for like 15.00 dollars plus shipping .

just wondering if anyone has instruction in installing the intercooler without removing the bumper support rails most of my buddies that did theirs removed them and i dont want to remove mines

ayoitbephil 03-29-2009 06:10 PM

I'm Guessing That I'm going to play around with my bumper support alittle

shaban 03-29-2009 06:28 PM

you will have to remove it, cut off as much as needed to fit the intercooler and then bolt it back up.... I don't use mine, but my cousin does.

I dont use mine. I know a guy that actually bolted his intercooler on so well that it actually works as his bumper support. You could stand on it and that thing will not budge.

ayoitbephil 03-30-2009 04:50 PM

hmmm maybe i'll give it a try

ayoitbephil 04-05-2009 08:43 PM

after hours in the cold damp weather just tearing away at my front end finally got the intercooler in looks good but kinda got too happy with the razor to the bumper. only thin gleft to do is relocate my battery and find someone to weld my bov flange. hopefully put pics up soon

shaban 04-05-2009 08:57 PM

stock sr?
if it is, you don't need a bov, if you get it, you're pretty much only getting it for the sound.
btw, if you don't recirculate the BOV, you will stall out when you come to a stop and have a rough idle...
