SR20DET intercooler?

I am thinking of getting a sr20det for my s13 but i wasn't sure if it needs a inter cooler to run. Also is there anything else that i should plan on having to replace after the engine swap? Any help would be great.

You don't need an intercooler, but it's going to hurt your performance. You could just plumb the compressor outlet right into the intake manifold. You are going to need a blow off valve though. As cheap as front mount intercoolers are, theres no excuse to not get one.

i recommend NEVER running an SR without an intercooler.. shame on you for steering him otherwise!! if anything, run the factory sidemount at stock boost.

yea they use to do that back in the late 80s to certain cars... but the turbos were similar to that of an stock jetta or turbo eclipse... very tiny.

I was told that turbo motors such as the sr and rb NEED intercoolers for proper detonation and pressure. Thats correct right?
