Is the 5 lug conversion necessary?

What is the purpose of the 5 lug conversion? Is it just to be able to fit rims that might not come in 4 lug or is there another reason?

silviadriver 07-30-2005 07:40 PM

been ask so many times

5lug is for OFFSET/WIDTH selection.

thats the only reason

h22lude 07-30-2005 07:57 PM

When you say selection do you mean you can fit bigger widths or you have a bigger selection of wheels?

Can't you also get a big brake kit with a 5 lug and not a 4 lug?

Fast1One 07-30-2005 08:14 PM

Search my friend....

usually id flame the hell outta poeple by now for makign two threads in which can be foudn by easy searching. and being a newbie doesnt void you from searching

like i said its width and offset selection. wheel companie smake wheels in 4/5 lug.

Helghast 07-31-2005 01:11 AM

Having a 5 lug means better wheel selections.

IE: It's hard to find a 17x9.5 +15 in a 4 lug..

Ayuaddict 07-31-2005 05:09 AM

4 lugs are usually for FWD applications so the majority of the wheels` offsets and widths arnt suitable for RWD cars...u can use them but theyre pretty gay...and since most RWD cars that are "performance oriented" come with 5 lugs...aftermarket wheelmakers make the wider width/lower offset wheels in 5 lug to save production costs by making those sizes available only in 5 lug...that should make sence to you

Then go ahead and flame. I did search and didn't find anything. I found a lot of people asking how to do it or where to get the parts but no one explaining the purposes of doing it.

Jack The GTR 07-31-2005 06:57 AM

basically...better wheels, better offsets so you dont get the sunken in look. and some other things

LOL, this could get interesting.

iroc07 07-31-2005 09:57 AM

you also dont have to have rotors re-drilled if you put on Q or Z32 brakes.

If people need to yell at someone through the internet because they asked a question that was asked before but couldn't find the answer they were looking for, then so be it. I am going to ask the questions that I can't find the answer by searching.

I am not trying to start anything I just hate when people say search. I have been posting on forums for 5 years so I know how they work. I do search and if I can't find what I am looking for I ask. Maybe I used the wrong words to search with and someone has a better phrase to use and that is why I ask.

Even if this was my first post on any forum, answer the question and tell me that searching might get your answer without waiting for someone to reply. If they want to ask the question anyway, let them. If you don't like it then don't reply to it.

Back on topic, so basically a 5 lug conversion is worth it because you can get rims to fit to the car instead of having rims that are sunk in and don't look as good

wow you couldnt find it? thats probably because you didnt search hard enough. 5 mins with the search engine does not justify a good search.

i can tell you now, that youve used the wrong words, but you came in here not saying you might of used the wrong words or asked if there is anything you missed. you decided juss to ask the question. nor did you even say you tried to search in your intial post.

do you know the reason to why poeple tell people to search? it is to avoid having to answer teh same question over and over again when the poster already KNOWS it has been answered.

but king will do.

Levi SPL S14 07-31-2005 01:51 PM

then read the stickies at the top so you know why you did it.

done.

l2aine 08-01-2005 12:40 PM

you didn't search hard enough. And I'm not being a dick about it either.

Answer - 5 lug, better offsets. That means no Honda-type +45 FWD stuff.
