Brake Booster?
 

I saw in the recent issue of Project Car, they removed the stock Brake Master Cyl and Booster and replaced it with just a racing type Brake Master Cylinder. They also moved the proportioning valve to clean up the bay.

I plan on doing all of my brake lines over on this car becuse I want to ditch the overly complicated tubing in the bay. My question is what happens to my brakes if I remove the booster and just use a racing master cylinder without a booster?

I wanted to do this too, but I don't see the point really. I was gonna hide all my brake lines but im going to do that when I do the non abs swap.

The point for me is I have the engine out and am painting my bay. Plus if I measure right I may be able to get more room for the turbo. "what's the point" dosent really help me here. I have a non abs car so there is no "when I ditch abs" for me.

Removing the booster will make your pedal very hard...ever push the pedal a few times when the cars off? Even better...ever push it to stop the car when you're rolling? It's very stiff and very hard to stop the car. I've never seen a racing MC but I would assume it's valved to make pressure with little effort, kind of like the booster. The only thing that would happen bottom line is that your brake pedal will be much firmer.

That's what I expected. I'll check the article again to see what they used. Expect a full write up on this when I do it.

with a stock MC you wont be able to stop the car moving at speed but not sure with a racing MC

also the booster supports your break pedal w/o it you would need to make a plate of some kind and you would get alot more firewall flex when pushing the brake pedal.

overall i do no recomend removing the booster for your own safety even racecars use boosters

Making the bracket is easy. I'm a machinist so brackets and plates are not an issue. I'm going to do more reading...a lot more..... I don't think Project car woud do something like that and not put a warining, since they said fuel lines in the cabin is dangerous.

does anyone know the difference between an abs brake booster and an non abs one.
I just bought a 96se auto and the booster is different than the one on my silvia, when i bought my silvia thats the way it came plus it has r33 calipers. Basicly what im trying to say is my brakes in the silvia suck and the ones on the 96 auto rule. Plus the 96 has 300zx calipers. Neither cars looks as if abs was there. Can anyone here help or should I keep searching s-chassis for my answer?? thanks ahead of time for all your info.
