braking problem

ok so when im on the highway and im going anywhere from 50 and above and i brake somewhat hard to pull into a road or something my steering wheel shakes vigorously , i mean pretty damn bad, and it feels like the whole front end of the car is just shaking like crazy. so does any one know what this might be from?

pooptown 07-15-2005 08:08 PM

probably warped rotors, and also if you check your rotors and one is worn more than the other, then you need new brake lines or either calipers, but more than likely just lines, that's just what I think it might be

balance your tires

JoxteR 07-16-2005 09:52 AM

i just had them balanced thats why im kinda worried about what it could be. but ill have them balamced again by someone else and have em check teh brakes too i guess.

if you have a caliper that is working a little harder than the other one, that will make it pull to one side...also like pooptown said warped rotors.

if you had/have un balanced tires then it would shake all the time not just under braking

Same problem here, but when i first got the car. the second day i had it, I changed the brakes and to more shaking.

pooptown 07-16-2005 04:41 PM

and warped rotors can be caused by one caliper working harder than the other, just like 2fast4y0u said, and the reason for replacing the lines is they may not look damaged but they inside of the lines can collaspe

JoxteR 07-16-2005 08:36 PM

well JDMxdrift just said when he changed his brakes teh shaking just got worse? so could it be something else? or did he mean and no more shaking? because he said and to more shaking? im confused.

pooptown 07-16-2005 08:45 PM

I can't say but I think he meant no more shakin but then again it'd have to come from him, but get some pads and rotors and lines and you should be fine unless the seals around your caliper piston look crappy then just get new calipers if that's the case, and if you've never worked on brakes before jsut PM me and I'll help ya out with some info
