Brand-type suspension

Dunno if this is the right page to post on but... here goes anyway!

-Lookin for a coilover set mainly for street use but would also aid in a bit of autoX maaaaaaybe drifting further down the road.

Need some advice... from what I've read megan coilovers are not so good? Tein is mediocre? What about JIC or Tanabe? Is there some brand called Stance?

Help! Im not in the world of HONDA I dont know my options!!!

i would go with stance. i personally own KTS coilovers simply because its a japanese company. Stance coilovers are in stock ad ready to ship from numerous domestic companies, KTS will take up to a month to arrive. Stance and KTS both have great customer support: KTS through SPL (bare replacement shocks available for purchase) and Stance is an american company so parts are readily available. i hear great things about stance's performance as well, not to mention they come with 2 sets of springs (9/7 and 8/6). and stance is not expensive either, but rather on the cheaper side at $930 for basics and $1295 for pros through www.tougefactory.com

Hm boosted b16 eh? Thats not too bad but Im sure one ride in a 240 will change his mind! Deffinatly happy I got rid of the civic!

Thanks Ayuaddict, heard/read alot of good things about stance through the site so hopefully they hold up to the hype :D deffinatly getting the GR+ maybe GR+ Pro's... but those would prolly be too strong for a street car in a town with too many pot holes....

Fries 05-14-2007 08:44 AM

Anyone know if the drop from the Stance GR+'s is good for some 17's? (18's are too big for the minimal power i'll be putting out in the begining?)

well it will always depend on the actual wheel, you have a range from 16lb 17" wheels to 25lb 17" wheels. Personally I would go with stance as well, although they are probably back ordered anywhere that carries them.

Going from Auto-x to drift is a big transition and differ heavily in setup. Unless you plan to make serious adjustments from one to the other, it will not be idealy setup for either.

Thats said, for budget buys: KTS, Stance, BC Racing

More money: Silk Roads, JIC FLT-A2 (not really any better), Cusco, Zeal. I would normally recomend KW as well, but they are more grip oriented.

Tein HE actually works decent for drift, but I do not like them for street/grip. I actually liked the JIC FLT-A1 on the street, but they are a bit more money then the other budget options with no real benifits. I would never buy the Tein Flex over the budget options. Megan and K-Sport to me are worse than just a decent strut spring combo.

Thanks Charles, I assumed the setups would differ but was hoping for a sort of middle man coilover :dunno:

While budgeting is nice I'm not to worried about it as I'd rather save up now and get it right the first time.

I'm leaning towards STANCE though because i've only heard positive things about the coilovers and for being such a quality product their price is amazing!
