coilovers that have good fixing work in case they blow
 

just wondering what you guys have experienced with fixing blown coilovers. name the companies and your experience with fixing worn coilovers. i was thinking about buying a certain brand but after thinking about servicing i might change my choice.

KTS has good servicing I believe. I dont own them. Its just what I heard.

Off the top of my head, here is who has servicing in the USA:

Apex'i
Tein
Tanabe
JIC Magic

KTS doesn't have "servicing" but they can sell you just the shock in singles, which is a brand new replacement. I think the same goes for Silkroad.

Out of the two coilovers (Tein & JIC) I've owned on the 240, I've never had to rebuild or replace them, daily driver and tracked.

If you buy a legit brand coilover, it will not blow or give you problems (to some extent). It will probably last longer than the life of your car. You get what you pay for, so if you buy a cheap knockoff, who knows what can happen.

hm i will be mostly driving street so i was thinking about something around 1g - 1.5g. i don't want to buy one then have to service it down the line.

like i said above, you probably won't have to service the coilovers ever in the lifetime of your car, especially if you just drive on the streets and don't abuse it.

on top of that, if you're in hawaii (which i think you are?) then it kinda makes it hard to service a coilover. after you look at the price to service each one plus shipping, you're almost near half price of a good coilover.

just buy high quality and pay more now and you won't have to pay more down the road.

there are many options between $1-1.5g, it really comes down to personal preference and what you want out of a coilover.

for street i would get a spring rate of maybe 8/6kg or even 6/5kg. it just depends how sensitive you are to "stiff" suspension.

well i was thinking about getting megans, apex exv, or silk road. my friend is offering me brand new megans for just under 1000 and it's here in hawaii already. this is one tough choice.
