Do Not, I Repeat Do Not Buy K-sports

I purchased the k-sports for my s14 about 3 months ago, I heard that they are to bouncy so I bought them anyways, I put less than 1000 miles on them, never tracked it and guess what they F!!CKIN' blew. I noticed fluid dripping from under my car and thought it was my brake line so I checked it out and my brake line was cool then I looked at my suspension, freakin caked with fluid from a seal breaking. So pass the word, I dont care how inexpensive they are....DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!!!!!

FuriousZ 05-06-2007 12:24 PM

thanks, ill take that into consideration!

i was looking for some coilovers, now i know WHAT NOT TO BUY!

that . . .cheap ebay stuff.

RuizXIII 05-06-2007 12:30 PM

Yeah I kinda was wondering about K Sport.
So what are you going to get next? Please don't say Megan.

2fast4y0u 05-06-2007 12:50 PM

tein all the way. never buy anything else...unless its stance. that **** is awesome

bucket240 05-06-2007 06:27 PM

F!!ck megans, I am thinking about silk roads or tiens.

MS!3 05-06-2007 06:47 PM

1 yr warranty?

ryguy 05-06-2007 08:40 PM

I've heard nothing but good things about Megan coilovers.

whoops, sorry i tried to quote you and accidently edited.
~yuta.

bucket240 05-06-2007 09:37 PM

Yeah they got 1 year warrenty I still got all the receipts. My homie got megans tracks and he had no prob yet but I say if your going to drift get inverted monotube. I am not going to trust anything under $1000 again. Wise man said "you get what you pay for"

i hear nothing bad about megans, but nothing great.

in my opinion, save up a little more and get KTS, stance or silkroad.

redpotatoes 05-07-2007 11:04 AM

I would disagree with you there. Teins are mediocre at best and I have had gobs of experience with all different models. Yes, better than ksport by a long shot, but certainly nothing special and you pay a little extra for the name. For cheap stuff, I had good experience with BC Racing and KTS.

As for the K Sport....they are a cheapy brand. This is going to happen every once in a while, but it not the norm. The bigger issue with them is their performance. Can be better off with a good set of fixed perch dampers and springs. Megans are certainly better, but not steller either. BC and Stance are probably about even and about the cheapest coilovers I would every recomend.

That all said, I would agree with the posters original satement, but not for the same reasons.

HPF Chrisk 05-07-2007 02:37 PM

i have kts and i love them, nice and stiff and not to bad on the wallet

Ayuaddict 05-07-2007 06:32 PM

+1 for KTS.

im surprised more people dont buy them.

MS!3 05-07-2007 06:38 PM

^^^ plus kts are viceroy approved, lol

bucket240 05-07-2007 07:30 PM

I am thinking about stance, what link do you guys got for KTS?

bucket240 05-07-2007 07:50 PM

Okay I just got off the phone with the person I bought it from rightcoastimports.com and he said that K-Sports went through a seal change within the last few months. They now have HKS brand seals in them. He offered me a new set, I asked him if he sold stances and he does. He is going to swap my K-Sports for some Stances and I have to probably put some monet on top.

zenkislider 05-07-2007 07:59 PM

damn lol i was about to say!! if your getting them straight up haha

Initial Daniel 05-07-2007 10:28 PM

I haven't actually seen KTS...I'm going to have to do some research. I may be looking for some better coilovers soon. I'm running Megans right now, they've held up pretty well in the 2 yrs I've had them, but I think I'm going to have to replace them soon.

Hmm...research time!

Ayuaddict 05-07-2007 11:09 PM

www.splparts.com for KTS. if anybody is wondering.

or http://www.kts-web.com/index.html

bucket240 05-08-2007 05:44 AM

Are the KTS pillow ball?

Initial Daniel 05-08-2007 09:10 AM

Wow, the prices aren't bad at all.

CharlesJ 05-08-2007 10:37 AM

Don't forget out club240 official vendors for the other stuff. For KTS, spl is probably the only way to go. For the other stuff we have several great vendors with very good prices

i say its a bad thing, but jeffrey star is in love with the idea!

bucket240 05-08-2007 04:37 PM

Damm it nevermind, I just talked to dude again and said my coilovers are covered under warrenty and I have to send them out to K-Sports to get them fixed. That is some bull ****, I think I am going to sell them when I get them back.

MS!3 05-08-2007 07:13 PM

that sucks, stance will come sooner or later tho. but hey atleast your getting pretty good customer service and there going to repair them for free. kinda sucks tho cuz you dont want em anymore lol.

IPWNU 05-08-2007 08:12 PM

So are we saying that Stance is better than Megan
apparently

Yes they are better than megans, they also come with two sets of springs when you order. Check out stance-usa.com

NiSmO Knight 05-09-2007 12:08 PM

I have the original Apexi EVC Coilovers, not one problem with them ever and they are GREAT price. But now they've changed over to EVX or something like that, I've yet to try them, but so far people who have tested them at the tracks like them.

If HKS could maybe drop a few hundred bux off their prices, I would recommend them. But not right now, way out of my price range. Theres also JIC, but not sure if your wallet is ready for the ubber rapage there. Hands down JIC coilovers are teh sex. Just imagine them as a high society call girl that you will get to enjoy over and over...

Overall, for the $, Apexi, KTS, Stance, Tein Drift spec (formerly know as the HE set) is good. Only gripe about the Tein's is that you have to unload the springs if your gonna daily on them.

Personally, I will be bumping up to JIC maybe next year. My EVC's hold up great. I may even send them back to Apexi to be rebuilt and install them on my brother's S14 when he gets his license.

CharlesJ 05-09-2007 12:15 PM

Since coilovers are a hot topic and we are getting far off the original topic. I am going to start the comprehenisive end all coilover thread. Check it out...post you opionions/recomendations
