falken hanabi

thinking of going with the falken hanabi wheels. 17x7.5 with a +32 offset. just wanting to get some opinions on this set-up. it will be going on my s13 hatch. ive opted to keep the 4 lug set-up. i have q45 brakes up front stock rears. i could re-drill my r33 skyline rear brakes and put them on, but i think it would be overkill versus the q45 fronts. anyway, i dont want to do 5 lug due to added cost and my last s14 rb25 had five lug. on that car i kept wanting to get expenzsive wheels since i had more choice. this way i have fewer chioces, therefore i stay in budget.

silviaks2nr 08-29-2005 12:22 PM

ahhhh u want 17x9 with a 20s offset. if ur gunna spend that much decent sizes.

phreze 08-29-2005 12:55 PM

Yeah just get the 17x9 20+ and be done with it its like $500 for 4 not including tires.

bottombunk 08-29-2005 01:12 PM

cool. i didnt see 17x9+20. ill just call em and ask. by the way edge racing, are they any good. or do you know of a better place to go through

bottombunk 08-29-2005 01:15 PM

they got em for 185. wheel. the 120 for the 7.5 obviously you have found em for a better price. let me know where please

Slidin240 08-29-2005 02:45 PM

Falken Hanabi looks great, i was thinking of getting them too.

bottombunk 08-29-2005 04:02 PM

yea ive always liked the , i think its integra
wheel and this looks similar. the 9s are too pricey with tires so i might go 9s in the rear

Fast1One 08-29-2005 04:05 PM

Go 9 all around...you can stretch 215 on nine inch if your worried about tire prices...if you dont have the money...SAVE. You wont regret it in the long run...

bottombunk 08-29-2005 04:46 PM

i dont do stretched tires. i hate the look and wouldnt want to get a pinch flat. i might do 9s all around its a debate for me.
i just have soo much in this car now. im ready to be done. you know when you get this close on any project you start thinking of ways to just get done. or at least i do.

sirt8669 09-07-2005 02:55 PM

I have bought 3 sets of wheels from Edgeracing.com for the VWs I have owned and I have had no issues with them. Very good shop and great people to deal with.

bottombunk 09-07-2005 04:51 PM

thanks for the info. i already ordered a set of 17x9+20 hanabi

sirt8669 09-07-2005 05:05 PM

What color did you get? I am considering the Bronze for my white coupe.

bottombunk 09-07-2005 05:29 PM

bronze

bottombunk 09-07-2005 05:30 PM

i might have to roll my front fenders. i dont know yet. but its no biggie i also have the eastwood fender roller/puller

silviaks2nr 09-07-2005 06:10 PM

i doubt u will have to pull, but roll is def a good chance. u wont regret... plus u can rotate tires now too

bottombunk 09-07-2005 06:27 PM

havent gotten tires. what size do you think. i was looking at 235/40-17

Fast1One 09-07-2005 06:30 PM

225...its not THAT stretched :D

bottombunk 09-07-2005 06:33 PM

i dont want them streched. i would like them to fit well

Fast1One 09-07-2005 06:35 PM

Than go with 285 :p 235 sounds about right...You wanna rotate right?

bottombunk 09-07-2005 06:36 PM

also if i do a 225/40 i dont think you can even get any tires that size and if you could i know its limited

JVD 09-07-2005 06:37 PM

For 9" wide wheels 245's fit perfect. They are nearly flush with the rim. 235's is starting to get stretched but I think it is the perfect balance. It has just the right amount of curve on the sidewall to tuck properly and it is still fairly wide.

JVD.

bottombunk 09-07-2005 06:38 PM

245/40 or something else?

JVD 09-07-2005 07:44 PM

I'd go 245/45/17 in the rear and 235/45/17 in the front.

those are too big. thats a 5% difference in tire size from stock, which is hard on the brakes and the speedo is too far off.

Boohoo! Enjoy tiny gay looking wheels/tires then. Have you noticed how small stock tires look? Even if you drop it, it still looks like crap. You ask for suggestions and then disagree. Looks like you know what you want already.

bottombunk 09-09-2005 04:02 AM

no i asked for suggestions. but the one you gave me i did the math and it is 5% off which is too far off. thats all. i appreciate your input. its funny, i respond intelligently and you give me crying. and no i dont know what to get exactly. i just know that doesnt work.

Please let me know how,"it doesn't work." You just bought 17" wheels and now you want to put stock sized tires on. Why? They will simply not fill the wheel wells properly. You spend this much money on your car thus far and then get stock size tires. I'd like to see a side view of your car so I can see what the stock size looks like. I will photoshop it and you can see what it'll look like.

Go to the drift unit forums and see how wheel wells should be filled.

bottombunk 09-10-2005 04:03 AM

im just basing this on what the tire calculator says. it says if you go over 3% of the original size it can cause brake failure and the speedo will be off. the size you said is 5% over, i dont really care about the speedo being off. but if my brakes have to work harder i am concerned with that. i dont want to have upgraded brakes only to have it help cause tire size as opposed to speed. i have q45 brakes, had i known that the tire size would have that affect i would have gotten bigger brakes. thats all im concerned with.

silviadriver 09-10-2005 04:19 AM

quit being a damn pussy. you ARE crying. your already working ur brakes harder by the fact of buying 17" rims which are bigger and have more mass.

if u complain about the speedo being off, go get it set to ur wheels. but you act like that really matters. "oooh wow im drivign and my speed is off by 3mph! OOooooohhhh NNnooooOOOooossss"

you have q45 brakes for goodness sakes! it is a ****load better than stock and not as good as 300zx. ur whole 3 5% crap applys to STOCK BRAKES. do you have stock brakes? in a sense you do BUT they are NOT stock for the car! which means your brakes are an improvement.

you actl ike 5% is gonna kill u or something. 1000000000000000000000 of people run it and are fine.

go with watever the hell tire size u want because obvsiously every suggestion that was given to you, you did not want.

in a sense you ALREADY did pick what you want. u want tires that are close to 3%, so then pick tires that are close to it. wat suggestions do you need then.

JVD: if he wants to make his wheels look gay. let him juss be glad u arent rocking it.

bottombunk 09-10-2005 04:40 AM

hey sivliadriver i dont know a lot about tire sizes, hence asking. also i was about to ask jvd if 235/45 all around would work. and read the my response i said the speedo is not a big deal. watch what you say to poeple as in me. you need to talk with a little more decency on a forum. yea yea i know its the internet and you can say what you want without being beaten to within an inch of your life, but damn dude were all on this forum to help each other. if you dont like what you read and cant say anything without coming off like an ass then dont post. i didnt realize i would be working the brakes that much harder by getting bigger wheels. i didnt realize that it wouldnt effect the brakes that much by getting bigger tires. and as for making up my mind already, wrong i havent even bought tires yet. i realize jvd knows more on this subject than i do and you do to. hence me asking for help.
