my lug nuts fell off!!!!help!!!
2 of my lug nuts broke off of my right wheel when i was driving, and 1 off my left lug nut.. where can i get a hub and brake with the twistie things on it ... cause mine are broken...please help...if you know of any junk yards in la that have newer s14's that i can take and buy the old hubs and stuff that have the lugs on it still...
|
you can replace just the lugs fairly easily
take off wheel take off caliper take off rotor take a hammer and bang out the broken stud insert new stud and replace eveyrthing else |
This happened to me too, but the caliper is hard as HELL to get off. If you figure it out let me know. I'm driving around with 4 lug nuts. It's been ok so far.

calipers arent that hard to take off for me. they should be about 14mm if i'm not mistaken. juss get a 3/8" socket wrench and use ur palm to slam it down.
|
Yeah, they SHOULDN't be hard to get off, but for some reason, mine are stuck. I got the bottom one loose, but the top bolt is totally stuck. I even used a breaker bar on it and it still wouldn't budge. I hope it's not seized up or something.

Just a couple little drops Let it penetrate all night and then before driving the next day, make sure nothing is on the rotor. Then retry the Stud by turning in the Tighten direction JUST ENOUGH to get movement and NO more. Now back to removal direction.. This SHOULD do it. Also, if it is a REAR CALIPER.. DO NOT have the E-BRAKE up, as you may know.. Good LUCK  |
I had exactly the same problem doing a brake conversion on my 180sx. I sorted it eventually, kept soaking it with plus gas penetrating fluid, over night, then put the socket over the nut, with a t-bar and hammered with a 4 pound hammer. Eventually it gave way and undid. Hope this helps. I broke 1 socket with this technique, bought a better quality one and it was fine.

trouble getitng the caliper off? 2 things u need:
spray the **** with liquid wrench, wait 15 mins, attack it with a big ass breaker bar. Problem solved. |
DaPCWiz spray the **** with liquid wrench, wait 15 mins, attack it with a big ass breaker bar. Problem solved. I replased two of mine on the RR and all I took off was the wheel I didn't have to remove anything else. It took me about 20min to do everything. |
Like everyone said, just use some lubricant and a strong force, shouldn't be that bad, its a small bolt to get off.

Remember to bring the man hand.

use machanics gloves, they give you the power to do enything... hahahaha i'm kidding.
but really some lube a hammer and a wrench, all ya need. kinda like wierd kinky machanics sex stuff. |
PB blaster works great, spray some into a container and pour just a /little/ on the bolt in question, don't get it on anything that's not metal, i'tll eat through it.
I had some friends helping me w/ my suspension, they broke a craftsman 17mm impact socket on one of them, i started using PB blaster and didn't have any /real/ problems getting my bolts loose from the nissan 'oh my god tight' torque specs. |
My car has two main safety features, the gas, and the brake. There is your oh-**** handle... questions? my car doesn't have oh **** handles..... is this normal? |
i've got an s13, there's a handle on the pass door armrest (that's what i was refering to as an 'oh crap' handle.) *shrugs* I'm from the city but going to college in the country, and when my country friends ride in the car w/ me they tend to grab the handle & brace for impact (tho i've never had an accident)... thus the sig. as for your s14? i'm not sure- i really don't know about s14 interiors.
