n00b brake question

n00b brake question

so i get my brakes in and open the box. There are 4 pads in there...i only ordered the rear. Why are there 4? Granted I have never worked on brakes before. Thanks for the help.

disk brakes push from both sides of the rotors. (squeeze)

it's nothing strange or anything.

thats what i assumed...but I still feel like a dumb *** though. Damn i can take my timing chain guides off but dont know **** about brakes :P
