New struts for lower springs
 

I just bought a 93' 240sx and the struts are gone. They came with what I think are around a 2 drop. My problem is that I dont have a whole lot of money to spend.
I heard that lowering springs are hard on most struts, are there any cheap struts that could handle a drop of 2"? The Tokico blues are about the only ones in my price range.

Or should I hold off until I can afford a set of cheap coilovers (799 for Tanabe TSC070X).

Dont cheap out on coilovers because you will be rebuilding them all the time, they will most likely leak, etc... Either save up for some GOOD used coilovers or KYB AGX struts

or save up for some good (not used) coilovers.

Hey man, just go on Ebaymotors and look up "S13 KYB AGX". From what little bit of plundering through this forum I've done, everybody seems to love them and they are only $300-400 dollars on Ebay. Plus you can take your lowering springs off your stock struts and put them on the KYB's without problems.

save up for coilovers man, even megan streets if your really broke, but KTS, STANCE, silk road, are realitvely cheap and good.

I just replaced my struts on a 95 with kyb gr-2's, do you think I need to replace the springs as well. Dont do any racing strickly for getting to work.

gr-2s are designed to work with stock springs.

yea the agx's are the ones meant for dro, just buy some megans if u really dont have the money, like 800 shipped and theyve worked fine for me

You can find KYB AGX's on ebay for $300 sometimes...just keep looking!

hey man im considering getting a set of 1.5 to 2" lowering springs for my 97 s14. i want the better handling and the agressive stance without having to adjust anything.will they fit on my stock struts? im a daily driver and a family man, but i love my s14! I do have dreams of making minor upgrades to it.im on a really short budget! please help me!

Lowering springs will tear up stock struts over time. Also, keep in mind that MOST lowering springs sag so a 1.5" drop will be closer to 2" (from what I've seen at least) Also, you really wont notice a difference in handling with just lowering springs. Pair them with a nice set up of KYB AGX with ground control and you are good to go.

If I were to use Ground Controls, I would pair them with Koni Yellows instead of AGX's.

no, the cheapest ur gona find real coilovers is around $800.. you could always buy good shocks and then get some ground controls like bryan said..but buy the time uve done that ur gona be $600 deep and u may as well wait a little longer and buy some real ones..

i concur, K-sorts and D-2s are cheap.

HOWEVER

D-2s are complete crap. K-sports WERE complete crap but ive been hearing some decent things about them lately.

i would recommend megans, KTS, or stance.
