Power Steering Flush
Sup guys, it's been a while since I been on here. I need to flush out the power steering system pretty badly... The fluid I got from Valvoline is clear... but the fluid in the system is pitch black. Before I added some of the Valvoline fluid, the sucker whined like a super charged KA, especially on any turn. Well, it doesn't "whine" anymore, but I do want to flush the system out to be on the safe side. Problem is, I've never done anything to a power steering system before, except add more fluid in this case.
Any suggestions? Pics? |
what i do is disconnect the lowest point of the hoses and drain it all. Put it back together then fill with fluid and see how it looks.

Thnx Levi!

Yeah, thats pretty much standard flush procedure. On a side note, depending n HOW bad your system was, you may need to flush multiple times.
BTW, wow levi, ive never seen you use your mod powers so constructively. lol. seriously. |
Thnx Phantom.... Im just curious as to what poster had said that made Levi edit his comment... was it that bad? LOL

Clear? ATF is whats used in power steering..and its Red..dark red/brown when its been cooked over.
Been a while since I flushed it but..IIRC Front wheels of ground.. Disconnected the top hose ran that into a bucket..started car.moved rim side to side..watched fluid spit out..topped it off..moved wheel...topped..fresh red fluid.Reinstalled hose..cap still off ,moved wheel side-side/then on ground steering wheel full lock right to left.. this eliminates air pockets. |
wow you guys really are retarded. Cant find a place to spam so you come here?
