Question on z32 brake hardware
I'm about to install z32 front and rear calipers.
My z32 front calipers I purchased rebuilt. They came with new caliper retainer pins and brake pad clips. Do I need this front brake hardware kit? The rear calipers I need to rebuild and I need a hardware kit. I am planning on purchasing the following: Rear brake hardware kit Rear caliper seal kit Do I need to purchase the rear caliper pins and rear caliper spring too? Or will it come in my hardware kit? I do not see the pad clips (clip that ties the 2 pins together) for the rear calipers. Anyone got a part #? I'd like to purchase everything I need one order. Your advice is greatly appreciated. |
Since you purchased them rebuilt, did they come with the mounting brackets? Make sure you check, as most rebuilds do not come with them. The front brake hardware kit looks like all the shims for the pads that you might want to prevent squeaks.
As for the rear, if your old caliper pin and caliper spring looks ok, you won't need to get them. I also don't think they come in the hardware kit, but you should definitely call and ask. |
Another question for you Z32 brake people, when you go to put the pads in and you need to apply the brake disc quiet, where exactly do you apply it? Do you put it on the back of the pads shim where it comes into contact with the four or two, for the rear, pistons?

that brake hardware kit is bs thats soposed to come with the pads when you buy them just buy the brake grease at discount auto its cheap. just buy 4 pins and 4 clips for the front and you can reuse the rear stock pins and clips
also you put the grease on the part of the pad that the piston touches even though grease does very little on fixed calipers ,works alot better on floating calipers but F*** who wants floating calipers lol! |
I noticed that you did not mention new brake lines and fittings. I mention this because the stock break lines will not work or fit with the z32 calipers.

this is just for the brake hardware to get the calipers ready. to do the whole brake conversion i have another thread going.
