S14 + 17"s + Coilovers: Offset Dilemma

There's a lot of threads concerning offset, and I've used all the info I've been able to find - but it's not enough. Maybe you guys/gals can help me.

...I came across a set of wheels. I need to hear from some S14 owners who specifically have 17" aftermarket wheels AND coilovers. The wheels I'm getting are 17x8 front, 17x9 rear, both +37. However, a question came up with the seller about if these wheels will fit without spacers. This inclined me to do some math using the above wheel specs, so I didn't newb it - I did some calculating, and here's my results so far:

17x8 +37 front = 68.6mm (2.70") for the inside half of the wheel; 138.6mm (5.30") for the outside half of the wheel
17x9 +37 rear = 77.3mm (3.05") for the inside half of the wheel; 151.3mm (5.95") for the outside half of the wheel

[NOTE: "inside half" meaning the distance from the center of hub, going inward towards the center of the car; "outside half" meaning the distance from the hub going outward towards the fender]. Comparing these numbers to a second set of calculations using 350z wheels (that I test fit on my car; no clearance issues whatsoever), it looks like the 17x8 front wheels should line up flush with the front fenders, but the 17x9 rears will actually pass the rear fender edge by a little over 0.6". For me, that's okay, but it's just the inside clearance with which I'm a little worried about.

If anyone has an S14 with 17's that clear coilovers without spacers, could you please post up the following:

- wheel sizes and offsets
- tire sizes (for reference)
- approx. space between the inside wheel edge and your coilovers

With the above info, I could then do the calculations and figure out some helpful stuff for other S14 owners, i.e. the maximum clearance available, which offset to use for the flush look, etc. I'd try to just put the new wheels on my car and figure it out myself, but I don't have the wheels yet and I don't have much free time to try it lately with a full-time job and what-not. For those who know me here, you may have noticed that I'm not the post whore I used to be

Bonus: I'm looking at probably a 215/45 for the front and 225/45 for the 9" rears. Your thoughts?

Any specs / help appreciated :thumb:

Man, I was gona flame this thread and tell them to search, and read the offset thread but its |2aine.

I don't think it should be a problem as my friend had 17x8 and 17x9s on his s14 with tein ss coilovers. I believe his offset was 35+ and the fit fine. Not sure what your extra 2+ offset would do over his but I dought it would make them not work.

Good Luck.

The extra +2mm would make the inside of the wheel +2mm closer to the coilovers... but since you pretty much gave me a real example that it works, that's all I need to know

CLOSED my own thread lol
