Shimmy in Front End - Nissan 240SX

My 95 Nissan 240SX has a shimmy in the front end, most notably at 55 to 60 mph. I have only had the car a month and I purchased it with the shimmy. The car has Carmax 16" 4 lug rims with 205/55/R16 tires. I changed the tires to some new Goodyears as the old tires needed changing. The problem is not quite as bad now as it was, but it is still very noticible. I also moved the rear rims to the front thinking one of the front rims might be the problem but it was not.
I have noticed that most 240s that have 16" rims have 5 lugs rather than four. Did the models that came with 16" factory rims have beefier 5-bolt hubs? If so, could running larger rims with the 4-bolt hubs be the cause of my problem or is it more likely I have a bad steering component that is causing the problem?
Thanks in advance for help any of you can offer.

i doubt it would be becuz of your lugs, otherwise everyone woulf have the problem.....

try getting you tires balanced, and see if it helps.

does it shake more when you hit your brakes?

check the steering shim...there is a shim little people know about in your steering column. Mine is also doing the same thing and i was told about the steering shim. Someone else replaced theirs and it was like driving a brand new car.

The tires, both old and new, were balanced and re-balanced but that did not take care of the problem. Applying the brakes does not make the car shimmy; therefore I would think the rotors are true.
