tie rod/tenson rod

o man..... im stuck can anyone help me? ok first part im stuck on is that my bolt that holding on the tenson rod is stuck and i cant move it AT ALL its slowly starting to chip away at my effort to take it off.... iono how to take it off anyone got any ideas....my second problem is im trying to put on tein tie rods w/ ends.... im stuck on removing my stock tie rod... i got the ends off the knuckles but i dont know how to remove the actuall rod... i dont know if im spouse to take off the locking plate or not... i dont even know how...can anyone help me.... can anyone give steps... i lookd in the repair book thingy... it only tells me how to take off the ends....

Tie rod or tension rod? They are two different things. PM me I'm local (I live in Walnut) maybe I can help you out. I've done both tie rod and tension rod jobs.

lol i was doing both things.... lol i have bolts that wont come off...when i was changing my tenson rods.... and for tie rods i figured out how to take it off... i just need to get new boots now... i just need info to take off bolts that are stuck like a ****...

thanks for the offer tho...
Try a long socket handle or breaker bar... we got bolts loose on a rusted 89 no problems.

BTW do you go to TAB Tuesdays?

lol i tried i couldnt get thoes bolts off =( iono ima try air tools tomorow...

i use to go to play pool at action before i had a 240... i hvnt been there w/ my 240

Nah TAB has been at Grand/Valley for the past few months, no one goes to I Scream anymore.

Air tools? damn... something is wrong LOL

holy SHIET!!!! thoes tenson rod bolts arent moving at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i put pb blaster on it and it still doesnt move i used air tools and i cant get it to come off =(((

you're doing something wrong. Are you talking the pair of bolts holding the tension rod to the front arm, or the single large bolt holding the front of the tension rod to the front brace?

I used a 2-foot long breaker bar with a 3/4" deep socket at the end and it came off with one pull.

ya i was using one around that size with a pipe at the end i was using a 17mm socket that shiet wont move =( did your brake caliper get in the way? i kinda stripped it a bit =\ cuz i wasnt like exactly straight =\ stoopid of me.... i wanna start working on the side where the nut is... but i cant get a breaker bar under my car....

i had to use my friends grinder and cut the f-ing bolts off of my 89. then we went to the junk and 2 in better shape.

just a dumb thought and dont take this the wrong way, but were you turning it the right way? anything that tight on a car is wierd.
