Tuning for Retards

Lesson 1:

Never use excessive force when tightening your lug nuts.

Example:

I just got brand new rims today and was making some last minute adjustments to my suspension when i cracked off part of a locking lug and also broke the lug key.

This is not fun, as Nissan will charge me ~$70 to get it off since it's stripped.

Once my new wheels are ready, I'm probably gonna just break off that old lug and try to borrow someone's lug key for the other 3 locking lugs.

I am retarded

Holy **** man. LOL. How hard were you wrenchin' on the thing? Did it break right before you lifted the car off the ground with your wrench?

That sucks though...

JVD.

whoah, 87 lb ft next time. and those gotta be either cheap lug nuts or your really strong to break them!

ConceptS14 03-17-2006 11:21 PM

take a socket that's a barely too small for the lock nut and hammer it on there to get it off.

YAH YAH .. so now not only have we stripped and broken a nut .. but we've beaten our ratchet with a hammer, and ruined a perfectly good socket.

HOW ABOUT NO, EINSTEIN.

wtf are people thinking, do **** the right way.

Good News:

My parents lug key from their Murano is the same, and I used it to take off the 3 intact locking lugs, which I replaced with standard lugs

Bad News:

In the process of trying to get the cracked lug off, I broke their lug key hahahahaahahah

Good News:

PepBoys sells the lug key and 4 new locking lugs for $30

Bad News:

In the process of replacing my wiper blades, I nudged the arm when it was up, causing it to snap down and crack my winshield

Again confirming I have extra chromosomes

yo dont beat the ratchet, just the socket then attach the ratchet.
$5 socket versus $70 for nissan to get it off, for me there's no question.

yea, people do it all the time, use a standard socket, its not like u ever use them anyways, just dont miss and wack your new wheels.

damn dude, you have no business working on any car! j/p...

jspaeth 03-19-2006 07:01 AM

thankfully, the stuck locking lug is on my old wheels, so i am gonna just beat the **** out of that broken lug with a socket and then use a breaker bar and 3 foot pipe to get it off.......

hopefully i don't break my stud hahahaha

RuizXIII 03-19-2006 07:46 AM

^ the way things are going, i think that stud has no chance of surviving at all.

Bryan 03-19-2006 07:54 AM

eh if you break the stud they only cost a few cents at the store and don't take long to put on at all...

jspaeth 03-19-2006 01:41 PM

Okay, so apparently I tightened the lug nut tight enough to withstand a nuclear blast........

I pounded a socket on and used an 18" breaker bar and Lead pipe attached to that, all that happened, was that the inside of the socket got stripped.....

I need something like a socket, but with sharp teeth inside that will bite into the nut as i hammered it on......

If this doesn't work, I'm strongly considering trying to dremmel the lug off, or at least get through it so that is cracked and I can then break/ratchet it off....

Any suggestions?

Ayuaddict 03-19-2006 04:28 PM

suggestions? stop working out?
