bearings wearing???

my turbo blew up recently, i sent it back to be warrentied lucky for me its not costing me anything but i want to make sure it doesnt happen again, the dude at turbonetics told me to check for stuff in my oil like shavings or coolant, no coolant but my oil did appear to be a little sparkly, now i took my timing chain guide off and is prutty worn down i guess the shavings could have been coming from that, ive had soem suggestions to check the bearings for wearing which could also be the source of the sparkly shavings im seeing in my oil. is there any way to check the bearings without removing the main and rod caps? or should i just change the bearings to be safe? i cant have this happen again cuz teh turbo has already been warrentied twice. any help would be appreciated, thanks

Im currently replacing my bearings in my Ka...There is a way to check to see if your bearings are going bad.Remove your oil pan and oil pump and grab each rod and try to shake as hard as you cna back and forth side to side.If they move at all there going up.I spun 2 rod bearings 4 days ago and its not fun.Cuz if they spin and you drive home on them or w/e u can damage your crank by putting ridges in it and thats not good cuz youll need a new crank or youll need to get it machined.Id say check em..i there loose which most likely they could be cuz of the metal shavings.(which my oil pan had too But big hunks cuz I actually Spun mine). And replace em its onky costing me 49 dollars for 4 new bearings and its easy.Id rather be safe then to be siitting where I am with a dead motor for now.

im doing the same thing right now, just take off your oil pan, what kind of motor are you doing this on? if its a KA you have to loosen your cross member to get your oil pan off.
