Best Bolt On Turbo Kit?
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys new to the forums just got my first 240sx shes got around 99,000 miles on her and shes a 1995. So heres the plan with the new car, I'm looking at getting a bolt on turbo kit, just thinking of changing the timing belt first since the car has high mileage, and just driving the car after that till the motor blows and rebuild the motor. Hopefully the high mileage engine with the turbo will bring me enough joy to last over the summer and blow near fall/winter.
Also this car won't be a daily driver its going to be a weekend warrior at the drag strip. I was thinking of going with the HKS GT-SS Turbo Kit anyone got any experience with theses turbos and as well any other brands I should look at for around $1000-1500 buck mark? Cheers Mike |
99,000 isn't high mileage at all. your motor won't blow for another 101,000 miles at least

I have a friend with an older nissan pickup and its at 450,000 miles on the original motor

Yah but are theses motors running full out every weekend. I normally run my car full out at the track, then change the engine/tranny oil every weekend after racing. I currently have a 02 Mazda Protege 5 Motor/Tranny went at 99,000miles on the car I just swapped a new motor/tranny that my uncle gave me that he had kicking around with 19,000 miles on and I just replaced the front struts so my Mazda is gonna be the new daily driver.
My goal with this 240sx is Turbo Cold Air Intake Exhaust/Headers Chip see where the car runs from there and contine. |
First off the ka has a timing chain, not belt. secondly, you should venture over to ka-t.org and do some reading. Personally I would piece together a kit myself...

"My goal with this 240sx is Turbo and turbo accesories Fuel system Exhaust Turbo Manifold Tuned ECU" and a Nissan is not like a Mazda. It's better. Nissan engines last forever. My sisters Mazda Protege is at about 115,000 miles and having all kinds of problems. Even if you run the engine hard every day, you should still get decent mileage out of it. My previous engine was turbo'd at 190,000 miles and lasted till 215,000 miles before the transmission blew and had a rod knock which made me decide to swap engines. As long as you take care of your engine and change the oil frequently, you will be fine. |
I know greddy makes a pretty complete kit.
|
GReddy kit is the one I had, they are $3,500 new

What are the current mods to your car? personally I would not jump into getting a turbo kit right this minute especially since you just got it. Learn the car first and it's limts etc. don't go out buying parts etc. Make sure you do a compression and leak down test before you do any kind of turbo kit. If I were you and wanted a turbo at this point in time, Id either go with the stock t-25 or or get the jdm T-28.

No bolt on kit guarantee anything.. put it together and learn about whats going on in your engine bay. edit: ahh ****... this is a olde but goodie lol.. |
not to add to this old crap, but about those nissan motors man, I'v had my car for about 4 years 93 hatch ka, and i think the only thing left on that damn thing thats any good is the motor, I'v ran the hell out it every day for practically for 4 years. And it still runs good and pulls hard for stock that is. And never really had any major problems with it, motor that is, everything thing else is falling off while going down the road. its got bout' 130,000 miles.
