dreaming agian?

finally got $ saved up. looking to turbo my 92'.. like the other 53423 million. i have a 5-speed ka24de with 120,000 on it.

i dont have much knowlegde so correct me if im wrong about what i need. i would also app. it if i could get a rough estimate on cost and best sites/brands to go by? what can i get from ebay?

and since the high mileage what should i do? internals wise? pistons?

-bov
-turbo manifold
-downpipe
-fmic
-370cc SR injectors?
-emanage
-msd, im thinking?

im shooting for the 200-250 whp range

i know i need to sreach, and i am. i just cant seem to find the info i need.

check ur compression rate to determine if u need new internals or not...if that checks out ok then ur ok for mild boost setup..

get the turbo outlet/downpipe from ebay

get the greddy m-spec fmic, its only like 400 which is amazingly cheap for a good name brand

dont forget about a turbo, wastegate, fuel pump, boost controller...and thats all i can think of right now

emanage isnt necessary, just get an safc and a good tune

msd? u dont need ignition crap unless u got extra money

oh and metal headgasket would be helpful..

cheapster757 11-03-2006 11:33 AM

what are some safe internal repairs i should consider?

and as far as the turbo, wastegate, and fuel pump, wheres the bast place to look? is that pretty much all i will need to push about 250whp(including the other parts listed)?

and how much money am i looking to spend on this? roughly

motegineon 11-03-2006 03:41 PM

oh and dont forget about oil/coolant lines for the turbo..

enjuku racing/jgycustoms/ebay/option imports ect just google whatever product ur looking for and find the best price

well if ur gonna do internal work u may as well do it all while u got it apart..but if ur only lookin for 250hp then u dont need internals as long as ur compression check comes out ok.

SR injectors are fine. The most important part though is definitely tuning. Most KA's blow up due to people skimping on the tune. Take it to a reputable shop and have them tune it, dont just order a JWT ECU and think you are good to go because those things have some crazy settings...

great. thanks for the info! what turbo should i get if im trying to get about 250whp?

motegineon 11-04-2006 06:51 AM

s14 t28 bb will do fine, find one for around 300bucks and good to about 16psi

KerosineK 11-04-2006 01:34 PM

You dont want to run 16 PSI on a KA with stock internals though. While it may last for a little while, it will go one day. I would run .5 BAR (~7 PSI) MAX on a KA with stock internals....

motegineon 11-04-2006 04:43 PM

yea i never said run that high, and u can run 10psi easy with a tune
