KA24DET quality

Let's say a KA24DET tuned runs at around 250HP @ 7-8PSI. How dependable is the engine gonna last under that settings as compared to a stock SR20DET? This is not a thread on performance, but more of "quality control".

@ 8psi it'll last forever. it can take up to 15 according to some. 11 according to others. this is all stock.

I second that....

As long as you do regular maintenance, you should be good to go.

Running 10psi and below won't harm the engine that much, and I'm sure it will still be kicking for a long time. I know of a few people that turbo their miata with stock internals and etc., good for 60K+

i met this one guy in my area that turbo'd his KA, he runs 10psi, and he had around 160K miles on it, he also mentioned that the engine still runs strong. He and others told me KA can lost awhile even when turbo'd since it has an iron block. =P

aye hyjynx isn't there some guy that has like 200K or a little over with a Flyin Miata Turbo Kit? i think i saw it on there site awhile back, or maybe my eyes mis led me. =P

I am running 15 psi on a motor with 170k miles on it, driving like we stole it every day. It'll probably go soon, we occaionally up the fuel and boost on the weekends to have some more fun. But hey, we have plenty more lying around.

It'll shorten the engines overall lifespan (heat kills) but there's no calculable rate. Mine's creeping to 149k and it's running awesome.

If you are comparing the KA to the SR in quality, you need not forget the conditions of the motors at the time of turbo-ing your 240, whether it be with an SR or KA-T. Remember that if you drop an SR20 in that baby has at most 50K miles on it. If you are like me then you probably got a cheap 240 because it had higher miles, mine has 127K. I'll be running 8 psi(ka-t) or so and will be fine. Because I have 400 horsepower goals, I'm going to upgrade the internals anyway.

My question is what size turbo is everyone running. I am thinking a GT30 or GT32 (garrett) or maybe even a 35R with upgraded internals. Keep in mind that 10psi is more power on a GT32 than it is on a GT28RS.
