project car V6 or sr20DET

 I am doing a project car, 95 240SX, and am looking for horsepower. I have a V-6 ceramic twin turbo that came out of a pathfinder. It has transmission, computer and wiring harness. Can you make it fit? Also, if money is not an object, how much horsepower can I get from a SR20DET? Are there any V-6's that will work?

If money is no object go rb25det. It's an inline 6 and has been done many times before. Unlike your twin turbo v6. I mean damn. That's huge. Awsome but huge. That's my 2 cents.

Skyline's are the only 6-cyl that people swap because they know it works. I have yet to see another 6 cyl in the 240. That engine just sounds huge, I'd bet on it not coming even close to fitting.

The sr20 can get upper in the 300 rwhp range, a stock sr20 will run about a 14.0, and with a few mods made low 13's. there are a few sponsored cars that are running lower, I can't find their links though.

But if you want 10's, swap in that japonese 6 cyl and it will get more hp than you'll know what to do with.

i dunno bout that one, doc. God, i wish i can remember what message board that was, but some guy was in the process of stuffing a vg30de into his S14. oh yeah, and he was hooking up the twin turbos, too! if i find the link, i'll put it up. all i know is that it was somewhere that i don't go often (like zilvia.net, af, fresh alloy, or nissanforums.com). to me, it would be interesting just because of the "different" factor. whether or not it's practical, better, cost-effective, or whatever, i could really care less. i'd just like to see one and go "wow, that's pretty neat right there".:naughty: am i saying "do it" or "don't do it"? nope. just that, if ur gonna do it anyway, toss up some pics, dammit!:D

second thought: u say u have a twin turbo out of a pathfinder?? r u sure? what year and what model? engine code? can u put up a link w/info to the TT pathfinder? i haven't heard of that. from what i found, the pathfinder came with:
87-89 Z24I (I4 SOHC, non-multiport fuel injection)
89-95 VG30E (V6 SOHC electronic multiport f.i.)
96-00 VG33E (V6 SOHC electronic multiport f.i.)
01+ VQ35DE (V6 DOHC electronic multiport f.i.)
:dunno:

I have seen a VG30E put into a 1993 240SX before, it came out of a 1994 Pickup, it fit right in when he used the stock mounts, but forget about aftermarket parts, nothing will fit, all his bolt-ons were off the shelf. Like it was said before, if money is not an option, get an RB26DETT besides there are more aftermarket parts available for that motor anyway, but it's totally up to you. Damn I wish money wasn't a factor for my build up. Must be nice!

Well the rb26dett would be the ideal engine swap to do but you'd have to convert it to a single turbo if you're wanting the ability to steer the car. The twin turbo system, i've heard, gets in the way of the steering stuff. But hey, whatever you do, keep us updated.

what is that link to?? funny as hell.

the vg's fit but there is little space. the RB are somewhat better cuz they are inline and fitment is better on the sides...but its radiator that you can't get too big or the room starts to become an issue as well.

alphonsus 10-04-2003 05:49 PM

how much would the swap for the VG30DETT or the RB25DET cost?
