Thinking of a custom turbo

Given that I have a stock T28 turbo from my GTI-R sitting in the closet I was considering having it machined to accept a T04 intake housing and rebuild all the seals myself. This would allow me to retain the outlet pipe that I already have and the stock down pipe. So what's everyone's opinion on this. The upgrade won't cost me anything so its not a cost based decision. It should flow alot more air especially and I might even go with a external wastegate.

I think you should go for it. Specially if its not gonna cost anything.
What wastegate are you thinking of? Tial has a had lots of good reviews at least here is the States. Deltagate is like a 50/50.

Why dont you wanna upgrade the downpipe? Would that require too much work on the T28?

I already have a 3in SS HKS unit and I don't want to have to toss it out because I am going to a different turbo. Now a O2 eliminator would be cool if I could find one. No outlet pipe needed. Its all one unit as part of the down pipe.
