Twin Charged Sr20

how do you guys feel about twin charging the sr20. there are a couple companies that have made kits like the kit from power enterprise.

would you twin charge your sr20?

life is already hard waking up each day and going to work...why complicate this factor even more. stay single and go bigger. ( OE)Twin turbo setups... are nothing but sale tactics for the market. and require many many hours of tuning to correct.

i say nay, like biggamehitt said go bigger, stay single. twin charging is for shop cars with owners that have deep pockets & want to attract hordes of kids in to see there twin charge setup.

Why does everyone think it's harder to tune a twincharged car than one with just one power adder? There is no difference in tuning. NONE! You have a fuel map and a timing map(for the basics), and you tune it just as you would with just a turbo..... Now, most people have no idea about twincharging so they just go with the general talk about how it is a PITA, but I've twincharged, and since I already had a supercharged setup, then a turbo'ed setup, it was decently easy.

Compound boost is something of a mystery still in the tuner community, but I gained 6mph going from turbo to twincharged, at the same boost level!

Sorry, I thought I had my stuff in my sig, but Turbo'ed I went 12.49@117mph, and twincharged I went 12.0@123mph. Don't look at the ET's as much as the MPH, cause this was in my probe and lets face it, FWD blows!

Biggamehit Aug 23, 2009 02:14 AM

do it bro.

I have been tuning my own things...that's all I worry about.

Everyone has their own style. With me, why double things and take time away from the track. a twin charged car is not going to make me drift or time attack any better.

In relation to drag yes they are cool, the tuning becomes an issue if you mount them differently. yes maps are maps but you are throwing more into the equation. Ambient temps etc changes things.

USMCDrifter Aug 23, 2009 09:34 AM

Agreed, I'm assuming in a matter of drag, power makes or breaks the time. Along with several other factors, I'm aware, but power is a big deal.

Twin charging, while radical, isn't going to break any new ground as far as tuning and, as is mentioned above, will only take away from time out there actually driving and getting better. There's no mod better than the driver mod, and seat time is the only time that matters in the long run.
