sportmax 501 tire size

1 Attachment(s)
i have been in the market for fresh wheels, the 17x7 +90 (exaggeratin) setup aint cuttin it. Being in college and commutin im on a budget and unless i get baller status soon and get hustlin no volks or tight 2 peice wheels or 5 lug conversions for now :( this brought to me find the sportmax 501's which are 15x8 +15 which im thinkin will fit nicely and they only weigh 15lbs vs. the 25lb 962's plus a more attractive offset. im not too familiar with tire sizes for this size rim that would fill out the wheel wells. i got an idea of what i may need but i would be more comfortable with some advice from someone who may have more knowledge in this department before i spend money. i searched and couldnt find much info about these particular wheels on a 240 in regards to a good tire size with my suspension setup and i couldnt think of a better place to go for advice. im runnin sportlines all around which im hopin will be enough to meet up with the right size tires and not have a huge gap between the tire and the fender. if i had coilovers i wouldnt be worried as much about the sidewall size cause i could slam it on rubber bands if i wanted lol but thats not what im lookin for. im lookin for somethin meaty in the back and not as beefy but fills nicely in the front. basically im askin for what a nice fitting sidewall size would be for these wheels so they fit the car nicely and eliminate the fender to wheel gap as much as possible without causing issues. im sure offset wont be an issue but if anyone thinks otherwise feel free to correct me and save me from the sunken wheel syndrome or any other issues. below is a pic of the wheels to get an idea of what im workin with and attached is a pic of the car how it sits with the sportlines. just use ur judgement and let me kno what you think would work. appreciate your time and i hope someone could help me or point me in the right way to make the right choice in this matter.

cool deal then i was thinkin up the right alley only i was thinkin 215/50 or maybe 215/55 i was unsure tho with 15's and only a barely if even a 2 in drop. i forgot to mention what i was thinkin in my earlier post ill definately have to put the 205's into consideration as well tho appeciate the input. im glad i can still rely on people to come thru even tho everyones about to bounce up out the forum from the looks of it. any other input/options/opinions is still appreciated cause ill be sleepin on my final decision since like I said earlier im unfamiliar with shoppin for tires for a 15in rim..been ridin them weak 17's since i been drivin bout time for an update..

id run 205/50/15 like jared said...id run some spacers if i were u though..

ReigH 02-28-2007 07:40 PM

You might have a small gap with 205/50/15.

motegineon 02-28-2007 08:30 PM

maybe a 55 max

Ayuaddict 02-28-2007 11:51 PM

i have 205/50 on my 15x8s. and why not the sportmax 002s with the 0 offset?

NcTwOfOuRtY 03-01-2007 02:48 AM

werd i got ya see thats why i asked and im glad i did cuz i might would have went on and ordered the 215's. but i appreciate all the speedy replies cause idk fosho and i wasnt doubtin anyone or anythin just sayin i had close to the right idea w. the 215's but looks like the 205's are the way of the warrior..i could deal with a small gap just not a crucial eye sore of one...as for the 002's i like those a lot not to mention the 0 offset also. but i didnt never see them offered in bronze and i dont feel like painting the rims.i kno rattle can isnt expensive or too time consumin but i just want to get somethin i wont have to paint or mess with too much if at all. btw ayuaddict i like how ur bronze 002's turned out..also the 501's would be somethin different which im sure people will still have them but i havent seen them often if at all around where i live..they kinda remind me of somethin ud see on a 280 or somethin.. the 55's is what i was thinkin bout runnin in the back but ill probly end up goin with the 205/50's all around...again thanks everyone and ill post updates soon hopefully with pics of somethin fresh. i still wont be orderin until i close this deal with my current wheels so any more input is still more than welcome.

i knew they looked familiar thats why when i seen them i thought of 280zxs.. i didnt really compare them side by side but they are a lot alike.

KidSaru 03-16-2007 09:43 PM

I was looking at getting those exact wheels but went with Sportmax 002.

I would, as most everyone is saying, run 205/50 or 205/55 max. You'll probably need to run spacers for the 501s.

They're actually pretty decent wheels, can't really beat the price at just under $300 a set.

NcTwOfOuRtY 03-22-2007 06:10 PM

thats whats up ill probly stick with the 205/50's still havent ordered them yet dammm i need to get on that..they are hard to beat for the price tho i have been considerin the 002's cause that 0 offset would be fresh and no need for spacers would be nice..we'll see what happens tho appreciate the input.

youll need spacers for the rear either way. the front stick out a little bit more than the rear on my coupe. 10-15 mil spacers would make it perfectly flush with the front but its not that noticable.
