Could i cut out the spare tire location for a 13W7?

Hey, i dont got my S14 240 yet, so i dont have the slightest on the size of the spare tire well in the trunk. I was wondering if any one has tried this, so i could mount this massive sub in a custom enclosure inside the spare tire wheel well so the sub sits flush with the floor, or even a false floor that is raised a bit, that would look SOO BADASS having this huge steal black 13w7 sticking out of the floor, with a massive Jl 1000.1 sitting right behind it or floating it on an amp rack~ ohh man im getting all crazy over this already, and i dont even have the car yet! Ok here are the specs for the Jl audio 13W7, if any one knows any thing about thier spare tire well's dimensions please get back to me, as i dont have access to a 240sx until i buy mine some time in the future, hopefully soon, soon as i can find a 5 speed S14 within 200 miles, MY ONLY REQUIREMENTS, AND I CANT FIND ONE!!!

Dimensions:
Frame Diameter: 14 in. (356 mm)
Mounting Hole Diameter: 11.9 in. (302 mm)
Mounting Depth: 10.5 in. (267 mm)
Overall Depth: 12 in. (305 mm)
Magnet Diameter: 8.38 in. (213 mm)
Pole Vent Clearance: 0.75 in. (19 mm)
Displacement: 0.21 cu. ft. (4.5 ltrs)

Enclosure Recommendations:
Sealed Range: 1.5 - 2.25 cu. ft. (42.48 - 63.72 ltrs)
Recommended Sealed Volume: 1.875 cu. ft. (53.1 ltrs)
Fc: 40.8 Hz
F3: 36.3 Hz
Qtc: 0.806
Ported Range: 2.0 - 2.75 cu. ft. (56.6 - 77.9 ltrs.)
Recommended Ported Volume: 2.375 cu. ft. (67.3 ltrs)
Recommended Tuning: 30 Hz
Port Type: “Slot” ports are recommended. See Data Sheet for detailed inf

if any one can give me the width of thier spare tire well, and depth that would be AWESOME. i can work on planning a fiberglass enclosure before i even get the car then, thanks in advance! peace out~

I have a s14 and had a 13w7 in my xterra, recently sold it to a friend. You could fit it in the spare tire place, yes. It would obviously stick up if your going slot ported jl audio box specs ( which i reccomend) i had a 1000/1 pushing mine and it was crushing. I don't know about you but it obviously weighs allot, box and sub and amp. Around 150 pounds, like having another person in the car. I could tell a difference in the xterra (which is slow as ****) from when it was in or out. If you want nice bass check out Focal Audio, they make stellar speaker, kinda pricey but prolly the best you can get, but ya it should fit =D

JL audio is a bunch of hype, for the price of the sub and the amp powerful enough to push it, i could build a wall of 15's and a single amp to power them all and blow it away

they might be over priced but as far as hype... a few years ago i took the state championship in cali with a single jl 10w7 and 2 crossfire bmf 1000 amps...
you might be able to build a wall of 15's to blow them away and run it with one amp... but where ya gunna put your spare tire??? and the cooler when you are headin to the spot to hang for the weekend???
if it takes 2 subs and a bigger box to make the same output of one sub in one box with one amp... do you really save money buying more than that...
my setup was rather inexpensive... the 10w7 in the jl ho wedge box was 799.00 and the amps were 350 each... now granted i worked at an audio shop at the time and i did not pay near that for my equiptment... but still for about a grand you can get a woofer system that almost has no equal as far as sub on sub goes...

just for a little background... i installed car audio for 14 years and i used to be one of the biggest jl haters in the world... when the shop i worked for started selling jl i was not happy... then i got my hands on the equiptment and was ae to play with it and try things to make them sound better... i still have little love for jl... but the w7 is a monster of a woofer...
now if you ask me what i suggest... i say a w6 woofer... less expensive and requires less power... and the sound quality when in the right enclosure is imo unmatched...
but back to the wall of 15's... if you like the sound of a 15 then i would say you listen to more rap and r&b than you do any other music... a 15 cant keep up when you are listening to the song "ONE" from metallica... they miss a few of the double kick bass beats... but yes they will be louder than say a 10" sub... more surface area to make sound pressure...
im not saying one woofer is better than the other... im saying you get subs for the music you listen to... if you want the ground pounding low bass rumble that gives ole ladies heart attacks from 50 feet away... then get 15 inch woofers in a huge ported enclosure... if you want tight catch every kick of a double bass drum then get 10 in woofers in a small sealed enclosure... and if your 10 happens to be a 10w7 then buy or build the box for the type of music you listen to...

i recently installed a 10w7 with the ho wedge box in my cousin's car and i must say that is one hell of a sub, and its only using a 400watt fosgate amp, hits harder then my 2 12 inch audiobahns i used to have, and jus feeling the material of the sub it seems unmatched and i've always been a fan of JL and in no way is it all hype

no, actually i hate 15's, but i was trying to make a point. I agree that the jl 10w6 were great speakers, but those would be the only ones ill buy. Personally i like 12's because they can both hum and hit beats without being too sloppy. 10's have left a sour taste in my mouth... especially audiobahns...Also, you made a good point in talkin about the right enclosure for it. Personally, I think that JL's are mostly for competitions where people have money to buy them, but for the average consumer, Pioneers, Alpines, Kickers all do fine as long as they arent stupid in setting them up because they can put some thump in the trunk without breaking the bank. Personally, im going with 2 memphis audio M-class DVC 12's in a trapezoid box behind the rear seat of my fastback being pushed by a monoblock amp pushing at least 800w rms @1ohm, preferably the memphis, maybe alpine, with at least 1 2farad powercap
