Just installed my RS3 Clifford

I got my RS3 Clifford for 270 off of ebay brand new. Saved me over 4-600 bucks for the install alone. Because this was my first install of a car alarm I'd have to say it's totally worth it. The length of time to get it installed was 2-3 days of troubleshooting (it is my first time) and taking out part of the dash, soldering, soldering, more soldering, getting into crazy cervices, and lots of eletric tape.

The instructions are "ok" but enough for me to understand most of it (after staring at it for a while). I also had help from

http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/last500.asp

They provide wire info, especially to the 240's. If anyone needs help I'm up for up

If anyone wants to look into the clifford matrix series i'd say go for it. There's an option to add on the remote 2 way paging system, although i would recommend gettin the rs3 with the built in system. I love this alarm, it verifys every command you send to it via pager (vibrate or tone) and the range is awesome. I sat in my cs building at my college on the 4th floor and got reception from a good 1/4 mile away and even further. Very happy with this alarm and the best value.

I'm about to get this alarm. I'm not really "electronics" savy so I don't want to risk my car going haywire. Should I just save myself the trouble and get it professionally installed? What standard options does the RS3 come with, besides the typical intrusion alert?

If I remember correctly that Rs3 sells for ~ 450 new, plus installation for something that good would run you around $200. Ii you don't know what you're doing, then for god sakes get it done professionally, you'll only end up spending more.
It's definately an awesome alarm, the LCD remote is sweet. IF you're in a bar chatting and someone it hitting you car, you'll know about it, it's a real plus. I work for best buy and was told Clifford over Black Widow any day, so I'd definately vouch for this, check out the reviews and specs and you'll see why.

I NEEED HELP! PLEASE!

i am getting very frustrated here!
i ordered my alarm. ive installed many many sound systems and am very knowledgeable when it comes to car audio, so i figure eh alarm no sweat.... well i get it and i get the instructions and whoa they suck! so i read them over and over and read many posts and find out what wires i need to find by color codes and what not so i think i have it all figured out no problem.
I CANT FIND HALF THE DAMN WIRES!!!!! lol
so to those of you who have an 89-90 (dno if the newer have the same wires or not) coupe with power everything where can or should i look for these wires?
constant 12V+: white/red wire. i found that one.
ignition imput: only has power when key is in the start or run position: not sure if this is the black/white wire or the black/yellow. please help which is it and where to find it?
parking lights: Red/Blue. cant find it.
door trigger: red/white (-) didnt find it
and i guess the starter wire for the starter inturrupt: black and yellow wire i believe. where?
i found the lock and unlock wires but had no luck with the others there are soooo many wires in the car. dont think it helps to have cruz control and the hud. oh well sorry so long had to vent and sorry for being a total post ****
thanx for your input

no everything didnt turn out great lol

i got it all working except i cant get the damn started intrupt relay to work work right.
i cut the black/yellow wire and hooked it up according to the instructions and it doesnt matter if the alarm is armed or not the damn thing wont start. any help would be great.
Josh
and no its not all that more difficult then audio except with audio you dont have to figure out the cars wiring as much as you do with an alarm cuz usually with aftermarket audio its usually pretty easy to hook up a power wire and ground and a remote turn on lead. alarm controls the actual car so its a lil tougher specaily when the damn chiltons book you paid $17 for doesnt tell you ****.
sorry lil frustrated still.

Talking AND ITS OVER!!

after all that frustration and complications i called crutchfield and they sent me a new alarm cuz they couldnt pin point the problems i was having. i got the new one and its all working good. aperently i receieved a restocked alarm meaning some *** bag sent it back and they put it back on the self defective.
new alarm no more problems and instead of the red led that came with the first one this one came with a blue one! ok so now im happy and all is well and good.

yea actually

yea im very happy with the finished product.
i need to turn down the sensativitya bit on the radar tho.
cant be within 2 foot of the car without it chirping at you.
and i need to remount the shock sensor someplace better then where i have it cuz it takes a pretty good bump to get it to give a warning chirp and one even harder then that to set it off and the sensativity is turned up full tilt.
any suggestions?
Josh

ha ha then again if you cant even get 2 foot close to it what does it matter? lol
i would recomend this alarm to anyone.( crime guard 745i3) its a great product and crutchfield has awsome tech support
