Perhaps he meant relays? The trigger on the alarm may not have enough voltage to pop the locks, so it has to trigger a relay which in turn pops the locks.

Don't think you need actuators... and if you need relays to trigger the door locks (I didn't but my car is an S14) they're about $3-4 each at any car parts shop; they're basica, SPST 12v automotive relays.

If you have the locks I think you do, then you just need a SPDT relay to do the door locks. If the you lock and unlock the drivers door manually, and they both lock and unlock there is a single wire for the locks. Here is how you do this:

Cut the wire. The doors will lock. Wire the switch side of the wire to pin 87a(the side going into the door). Wire the negative unlock output and the motor side of the wire to pin 30. Then you put the negative lock wire on pin 85. Then you put 12v to pin 86, and pin 87 is not used. That is how it is done if you have the single wire locks. If I remember correctly, it is an orange/black wire in the drivers kick panel.

PS: I am a best buy people....One of the ones who know what he is talking about...LOL....I know exactly what you mean tho

well i finally got the alarm installed about 2 days ago . actually talked to the installer before hand and he knew his shi* and wasnt blowing smoke up my ***. they didnt need any actuators just a $5 relay . they did a really clean job soldered all connetions and heat shrinked .thumbs up to best buy for good install only complaint is price it was a little pricey , got thealarm for $230 and another 120 in options like battery back up and pezo horns(well worth the it).
