Sorry, I don't have any pics anymore. Lost em in a combo of a pc reformat and cancelling the webspace I was hosting them on. There used to be a pic on here though.... Just searched for the thread, found it, it's about a year old... I linked to the pics on my webspace I had so they're gone :-/ There is 1 pic from another guys install though.
I scanned my pc but couldn't come up w/anything. Sorry. I don't have the setup any longer. I'm still trying to save up to rebuild my system.

Sorry to bring a old link up, but I am interested in doing this aswell, but one thing I noticed about the screen(s), Where would you insert the DVD's or CD's? is there another compartment or am I missing something. I like how it's all right there but im also considering just getting a Deck with a slideout screen, any Pros and Cons or these two set-ups??(1 screen, or deck with sliding screen) what would you guys do?
I had a slim slot dvd/cdrw drived hooked up via usb. the main unit was in my hatch. it was a full computer setup, just made smaller and to consume less power (150w power supply). the screen was a touch screen
pros and cons?
pros:
touch screen
automatic boot upon car start, auto shutdown 30 seconds after car shut off
dvd
cd
mp3/wmf/aac/itunes etc
120gb hd
divx videos (or any other downloadable codecs)
wifi (when I rebuild it will be using gprs/edge also)
gps ready (i didn't buy a unit yet)
xm ready (just waiting to rebuild)
1.8ghz processor, ready for most games
plug and play with my xbox 360 via a/v inputs (waiting for rebuild but it will work)
plug and play with other game systems
5.1 surround sound (could go bigger with upgraded sound card)
cost me under $1000
can custom mount cd wherever you want. I was working on mounting it in the arm rest.
bluetooth ready
can be made voice activated/accept voice commands
I will be integrating a car alarm with the system as well when I rebuild
anything else you can do with your home computer
cons
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I guess the small boot time is a con, but u get used to it.
harder to setup than a regular head unit, but the advantages outweigh the work
cost? not really though cuz to get half these features you'll pay twice as much
I really can't think of much else. you can buy units ready to go but you'll pay more. it's more fun to build yourself.

Hey man, im interested in your setup and everything. Um, can you give me a total on how much it would cost and what not? I'm really really interested.
this is what i want mines to look like, this was shot at the nopi event at st. louis
and im going to end up fiberglassing... the whole dash.

The cost really varies. Depends on what you get. If you build yourself.. the basics are
$265ish for the screen
$150ish for the computer powersupply
Those are the big items. The rest are up to you. The mobo I was using isn't sold anymore, but it was around $60, then I used an AMD xp+m processor that cost around $80ish. Then hard drive.. I got a steal at staples for like $60 on the 120gb, good luck getting an 80 for that price now.. ram is up to how much you want, it's cheap though
Pretty much think of building a pc, using the above power supply and screen as the monitor.
